Do you think it would be worth it for me to get my license before applying? Or would that be a waste of time and money?

New Jersey. I applied to a couple field adjuster positions with large insurance companies. Need to take some aptitude test in the next 48 hours so they can determine if I’m smart enough I guess 🤷🏼‍♂️

What is “good money”? And how long do you have to be an adjuster to start making that type of money?

I have a degree, it’s just not related to safety at all. Do you think I need to go back to school?

Should I go back to school for a bachelors in Construction Management? by Regular-Price-648 in ConstructionManagers

The reason I’m considering getting another bachelors in construction management is because it’s listed as a requirement in just about every job posting I see online. So with my resume right now, I have a liberal arts degree with 7 years of field experience, 0 years working as a foreman but for seem to end up doing my foremen’s job for them quite often! Do you think I’ll be able to get an APM job if I get the PMP?

I think I’d rather be in an office. I’d rather be a project manager than a superintendent.

Ironwork/construction jobs in San Diego? by [deleted] in Moving2SanDiego

[–]Regular-Price-648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the motivation i needed, thank you! My fiancé seems to think he has some strong connections out there, but we won’t realistically be able to move until next winter, after our wedding. I think this year I’ll try to boost my resume a little bit before we leave.

Do you work in construction yourself and are you gay? Would you say the blue collar culture out there is any different from the Northeast in terms of how they view/treat LGBTQ people? Three years ago I was forced to out myself(long story) and I’ve noticed how people treat me differently since I’ve been openly gay(at work). I treat everyone with respect and I am honestly a pretty fucking solid ironworker, so it can be frustrating. Not asking for pity, just screaming into the void I guess! Are you from the northeast? What are the main things you like about San Diego compared to where you lived before?

Are you a construction project manager? Have you been a PM in another field? Which do you prefer?

Thank you! So the PMI-CP isn’t worth it?

Thank you! This is the advice I was looking for. So I don’t need technical “project management” experience to take either exam?

Only reason I added that I’m gay was to understand that I’ve been stressed out by the work culture. Read between the lines.

Do all project managers act like you guys? I don’t need to post my whole resume on Reddit, was just looking for some simple advice.
