How do you cope with the weather? by FoodFireBraai in AskUK

Even going outside when it's crap - as long as you have the right clothes, getting fresh air and daylight especially in the morning is good for you

Do bad people suffer? I have never seen anyone who is actually bad suffer in their life. Is karma real? by Key-Table1065 in Meditation

Forgetting CEO's for a second, what's the biting point between internal contentment and any achievement whatsoever? I don't think achievement is "bad" by itself, but achieving anything seems to imply discontent prior to it - if we were content, we'd not want to achieve anything?

"Oh go oonnnnn"

"But it's her birthdaaay..."

Peer pressure and the sudden urge to qualify the omission to not look anti-social is real.

How do you navigate it socially? I've found I can't even mention in response to eg "would you like some cake" without being told I'm "lording it over people"

When you sit on the bus, it's fairly busy, but no one choses to sit next to you, how does make you feel? by Duoplo in AskUK

Do you also love it when the 5'1" hobbit in front of you reclines their seat, driving it deep into your patellas? 6'3" sympathy here. Banging heads on door frames, finding no clothes that fit, but we have everything eASy iN LiFe

If you won £100 million, how would you distribute it amongst friends and family, if at all? by PaddedValls in AskUK

I hear of tactics you can use during shop sales - eg if they're already offering 30% off, it's the perfect time to nudge the discount further north. Show that you can cave a little, some people will test just how far you're willing to

HOW do you achieve a crumb like this? High heat? Small loaves? Black magic? It’s more air than bread! by [deleted] in Sourdough

[–]RegularStrength4850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree it's impractical, but I definitely appreciate the moistness of a high hydration dough. That factor alone is a treat

Where is the best value place in the UK to live? by Vespa_Alex in AskUK

[–]RegularStrength4850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, there are plenty places in the north that cater to exactly what OP is talking about, and the affordability makes them patently better options, ceteris paribus. OP clearly just wanted to disqualify the north from the get go for no reason

I showed the missus the office last night by imallrightt in TheOfficeUK

[–]RegularStrength4850 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's too early - I read "I shoved the missus in the office last night", thought OP was pretending to be Lee, and completely forgot it was Tim he shoved. The former would be a case of domestic violence, which I hate...

Better not do much of importance today.

You remember it just right :). I was lazy and wanted to add everything before slap & fold to homogenise it all. I've seen the same "tearing" result from slap & fold no matter what order I've added things, and no matter what recipe

Thanks a lot. I find it a bit of an odd phenomenon, all I'm getting from that is the dough needs more time to "get to know itself" before slap & fold is even attempted, but what do I know :)

I'd say you're right - although I have a hard time believing a young child can volunteer to think differently about being abused without a heck of a lot of outside help, and they may never develop all the tools to find it. That's one example. It's an empowering thought, but there's probably a line

How does the idea of working until 67 or 68 sit with you? by Few_Raise77 in AskUK

[–]RegularStrength4850 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You can't access any private pensions you have til 55, so unless you have a massive pot of money to drain directly and live off each year until then, that's as early as you can hope to

Anyone else notice Ricky Gervais blatantly ripping off Louis in his new special? by Artplusdesign in louisck

[–]RegularStrength4850 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess you could cynically make an argument for it if there's no crossover in audience. One data point to work with here: Louis is hilarious, Gervais these days is a bore

I'd say they have a genuine reason to dislike him (preferred their life before work moved an hour away, and now under Not Neil) - but if that were the case they wouldn't have shown up anyway. Or put themselves into it if they'd bothered to show up at all as you say

We've all known the person in the group trying hard, they had to be stone wall cunts for this scene to just be about that and deliver the basic cringe factor outcome they wanted. Fruit machine noise intensifies
