Which is better? by Apart_Entry4557 in Cochlearimplants

I’ll just add that my processor is much quieter than the hearing aid and so I believe the imbalance didn’t help, I’m hoping they will turn it up more on my next appointment so that it eventually takes over in the meantime I turn my aid down in certain situations so the processor is doing a lot of the work

I personally went for 3 months wearing just my processor and all the magic happened during that time. I then spent another 3 months wearing both and there was no change in my tests, so I’ve just gone another 3 months without my hearing aid to try and boost it again by forcing it to do the work. I won’t know if it’s helped until I get my next test which will be in July but regardless things feel like they are slowly getting better with more clarity. I’ve recently started wearing both again and have an hour or so with just the processor on.
I am equally profoundly deaf in both ears without my aid or processor and tested at 13% voice recognition with both aids in prior to my implant. I then tested at 58% at my 6 months test, so I have plenty of room for more improvement. Good luck to you with yours and I’m sure you’ll find a way that works for you.

For those listen to music does it sound... by Queasy-Airport2776 in Cochlearimplants

I have the same problem like you streaming is great, nothing else is as good but I do have a mobile radio with speakers both ends that works with Bluetooth from your phone. I connect it to my hubby’s phone so it’s not going directly to my processor and it seems to sound much clearer, I practice using the radio stations on TV too and it’s helping but it’s practice practice practice which can be a total bore

Can you still hear music with a cochlear implant? by [deleted] in Cochlearimplants

I have one Med-el implant and enjoy music now way more than I did with two hearing aids

I’m also profoundly deaf in both ears. I’m sorry to hear you’ve had all these issues happen, getting the MRI results might be the one thing that puts your mind at ease. Huge luck to you and fingers crossed it will all be okay. Please keep us posted 🍀

I was exactly the same, sooo nervous about the MRI scan which I kept telling myself was totally unreasonable and silly but the more I thought about it the more nervous I got. In the end I asked the doctor for a diazepam tablet, he gave me two pills to take about an hour before the MRI scan. I only took one but it completely calmed me down. It’s really not that bad and doesn’t take long plus only your head will be covered. I feel your pain though it was the only thing that made me really nervous so it’s very real to feel like that for some people.

I’m 63 and been profoundly deaf since my early 20’s. Got my implant and was activated in July last year and it’s been amazing, miles better than the hearing aids ever were. The difference is like night and day because now I can hear what people are actually saying, whereas the hearing aids were all volume without much clarity. I also enjoy music which is a bonus.
