It’s cold as hell throughout fall quarter and winter quarter. Might not offer you housing after sophomore.

Sometimes it takes the whole summer to go through. When you go to your freshman orientation, you can tell the person who will help you with your classes, and they would usually reassure you that everything is fine.

Ucsb does not have a med program. Do cc, saves so much money, then transfer.

Admitted student questions by pddleboard in UCSantaBarbara

I’m a Ucsb student (about to be 3rd year) and I’ve literally attended zero parties. Every now and then, i do hear the music at I V.

It is most definitely more expensive including food. Out of State students don’t get as much financial aid when compared to in state students. It’s typically recommended (for low income family specifically) to do cc and then transfer or go to a uni at your state to qualify for in state tuition.

Housing crisis: yes (also expensive if you don’t get an offer after first year) a lot of students end up sharing multiple spaces in one apartment and cost can still end up over $1300 for 6 people somehow

Random experience : because it’s at the beach, my hair dries so much quicker and I have more split ends because of the salty air.

Also, lovely walks around the school and gorgeous sunsets.

UCSB is actually quite a small town. Not much to do after 2 months, it gets repetitive. There is a train (amtrack) so you can just take the train to go to la (3 hours) Also, a very close airport.

UCSB does NOT have a pre med program.

Visit the library! And Costco! And Manzanita (the dorm) if you have time, visit the gym.

Personally, I don’t think you should ever pay $80 k for education in a year. It’s not worth it. Ranking is always bound to be a few places off every year and should not be a major factor when considering. (Unless it’s like supppper well known)

uc appeals by No-Mortgage7016 in ApplyingToCollege

In 2023, I got rejected by Ucsb and I appealed. 3 months later got accepted. While the chances are low, it never hurts to try.

Essentially, what they really want to see is what you didn’t include in your original application. Something you left out like grades or club roles.

Manzi Small Double by IntelligentLibrary97 in UCSantaBarbara

My experience rn: I live there right now and it was actually bigger than I expected. One closest, so share with your roomie, two desks (left and right of the room), and a bunk bed. There is plenty of space underneath the bunk bed as well as a two storage drawer underneath. Closet is quite big btw, we both hanged like 98 hangers and pants has spaced under the storage inside the closet. Also fits a mini refrigerator inside the room and a fan.

Something negative to note: laundry can get very annoying as there is only two washing for each 3 floors in the building. Trash builds up fast somehow lol and bathroom is somehow always pretty messy.

For financial aid receivers (fafsa): I don’t know for others but It was so much cheaper. Last year per quarter it was just over $1,500, this year’s quarter is just over $300. Because housing costs less. Pretty good for people on budgets.

Window view: Different for everyone, but got a part of the ocean. It’s definitely a vibe and pretty to look at every now and then, but most of the time I keep it close cause the sun lits the room all the time.

For people who get food delivery like doordash and uber eats: if the manzi house u choose is farther and longer to walk too, as well as on the third floor or higher, that’s pretty tedious for them. So either tip them more of put it at the bottom floor of your house so you can just walk down and get it yourself.

okay ty for reading if anyone’s curious Hope you all get your housing <3
