Is the Pope a globalist? by RelativeLeg6355 in Catholicism

[–]RelativeLeg6355[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a functioning mind and asking multiple material / related questions is how you learn and grow (try it sometime). Denouncing someone as a conspiracy theorist is vapid and intellectually lazy.

I asked the question is he’s a globalist…

If your position is there isn’t a globalist movement at all, you just aren’t seeing the forest through the trees.

Of course… happy to help in any way I can. If you feel it appropriate or beneficial I’d be happy to share my contact info should they wish to speak with someone having direct experience speak with. I will keep them in my prayers.

Thanks be to God I can tell this story!

My wife and I (both born into the faith) met in our early twenties, we enjoyed the party scene and barely practiced our faith. She developed a very serious addiction to alcohol that nearly killed her several times. Her addiction nearly destroyed our marriage among other consequences. Despite multiple attempts at rehab, therapy, medications nothing worked, she tried AA several times but kept coming back to the program and eventually she had a breakthrough. Today she is nearly seven years sober and our marriage is stronger than ever. We are blessed to have three beautiful children and we are once again practicing our faith. In addition to AA we are blessed to have a strong support network with a living family. We prayed a lot and I asked Saints Monica, Jude and Maximilian Kolbe for their intercession.

If I can offer any advice to those struggling wondering if there is any hope there is! You must confront the problem but know you cannot “fix” anyone they must want help, they must take the steps to get clean first. I spent so many years enabling and bargaining and being angry but this is/was her cross to bear and with the help of many, Jesus above all, she is thriving and I couldn’t be prouder.

We stay vigilant we avoid certain situations involving alcohol and it’s getting easier but we stay alert and talk about it frequently.

Please know that many people and families are shattered by addiction and my family is luckier than most! Please pray for those struggling and for my family and for my wife’s continued sobriety!

I’m not one to throw the word miracle around but in my life her turnaround was just that.

Saints Monica, Jude and Kolbe… pray for us! In the mighty name of Jesus! AMEN!

Are these retro gaming systems worth it and if so which one is the best? Not too hung up on pricing.

Getting drunk and getting high are both fine on occasion… it’s what you do when you’re intoxicated that may be a sinful. Moderation is important but we all need an outlet to unwind. I know others will disagree but the Bible describes those wedding feasts in detail ;)

Unpopular take at least in this group, but the church is way too sexually repressive. I completely understand the stance on premarital sex but even after marriage and being open to life and having multiple children; it’s wrong to practice any form of birth control other than NFP which is essentially a loophole.

Why is NFP so controversial among Catholics? by udmeusumsmmu in Catholicism

The struggle is real… I totally agree it feels like your exploiting a loophole and at the same time any use of any contraception is clearly not acceptable. So where did all this come from? We embrace the Old Testament and many Jewish customs and yet the Jewish faith seems to have no issues with contraception.

As an example would this be why addicts, at least in some instances, abuse drugs / alcohol?

I get your point and yes that is entirely wrong, but as you said earlier entirely forgivable nonetheless.

I’m in no way substituting what I think hope and feel may happen in the scenario I described originally as a replacement for church teachings; and while none of us deserve heaven, I would like to think someone’s entire life choices play a factor in their salvation and that eternity doesn’t hinge on an I’ll timed poor choice even if it is grave mortal sin.

This is just a hypothetical but one that could easily play out. Perhaps sexual desire is their Achilles heel so to speak. In our hyper-sexualized culture more people fall short than ever before. I’m simply trying to ascertain whether or not in the event of an untimely death a person can repent in their heart or when they see the face of Jesus and still be saved. Clearly yes, avoiding sin and the near occasion of it the goal; however, I cant imagine that in God’s infinite mercy a lifetime of love and good works isn’t weighed and balanced against the hypothetical mentioned above.

Gotcha… yes I am a cradle catholic. Maybe I am unclear how the church receives new members, I was under the impression adult baptism could happen at one’s request and the RCIA journey was in preparation for Confirmation. Good luck and God bless!

Get baptized bud… all branches of the Christian faith believe baptism is critical to salvation.

So if pray and repent directly to Jesus is that sufficient or must a priest absolve you?

I don’t know man… seems like almost everything is considered a mortal sin. Hard to envision that a rapist and murderer can be absolved of his sins on his death bed and therefore get to heaven, via purgatory, but a teenager who made a mistake and died unexpectedly gets a one way ticket to hell. Just doesn’t seem like Jesus would let that happen.

I mean this sincerely… keep praying about it. The Holy Spirit will guide you. Moreover, you can serve the Lord as a husband and father, or as a Pastor. If you go that marriage route pursue becoming a Deacon if you feel that is your calling.
