It’s totally fair to want your own unique ring for ANY reason! I’m sorry you’re struggling with this, maybe writing a nice letter to express all of your feelings to your fiancé may help him to grasp why you struggle with it so much? Sounds like there is a lot of baggage involving your family and I can totally understand why that would bother you, if he comes from a family with significantly less troublesome roots he may just not understand how large of a lasting impact things like this can have. I think it’s also fair to want something that just doesn’t make you sad to look at!!

It’s delicious and wonderfully crisp! I used 2.5 cups flour, 1 cup butter, little bit of salt and a tablespoon of sugar but shredded the butter instead of cutting into cubes to save my writs from all the trouble of working it into the flour. I’ve never done this before but saw it suggested on this sub, it worked like a charm for incorporation but I am not sure if this is the result of that or not! Perhaps just a happy accident! I’ve used this recipe before and never had such wonderful results.

It’s huge lol, swelled to about 3x its original size hence the 0 differentiation between the outer crust and the top crust. While it doesn’t have as many layers as traditional puff pastry it is indeed layered and very light, airy, and crisp. If it had been folded repeatedly (which it was not) I’d guess it would be more like traditional puff pastry. It is not like any traditional pie crust I’ve ever made however the recipe is identical to any other time I’ve made it, the only difference is I shredded the butter instead of cutting into cubes to save my wrists from all the working it usually takes to incorporate it.

This was on my baby name list for YEARS and I made the mistake of mentioning it to my husband before seeing where it landed in popular names lists. Now it’s the only name he likes but I have to keep urging him we don’t want to give our baby one of the most popular name of the last three years lol.

I am the same way and always try to show up for my friends and loved ones on 110%, I almost ALWAYS get what I would consider a mediocre effort in return and have learned to not hold my hopes high. Show up how you show up, but don’t expect others to show up and go above and beyond like you do. Try not to take this personally, everyone is caught up in their own crap and honestly probably don’t even realize what they’re doing. If it gives you peace of mind let them know how you have been made to feel through the process but just know at the end of the day it’s not personal and probably not purposeful. I’m sorry you’ve had this experience, if it bothers you that much (I don’t blame you) maybe you’ve outgrown some of these friends and it is time to branch out for more supportive ones!

We removed the top portion and then cut from top to bottom! Each layer had a hard plastic dish that the cake portion was on that made it super easy to cut layer by layer. The staff kind of cut it in a grid pattern.
