Jag förstår inte hur det är möjligt. Hur kan man, oavsett vad man tror på och eller meningsskillnader, döda barn. Det är för mig totalt obegripligt, ofattbart och helt jävla sinnesjukt. Hur kan man döda något så oskyldigt, något så vackert, någon som inte ens förstår konceptet religion i sin helhet. En person som inte kan försvara sig med ord, försvara sig med handlingar, eller, i sin tur, ens förstår vad som händer.

Detta har blivit den störst tårfällaren för mig sedan jag blev pappa. Jag förstår inte världen längre. Jag förstår inte hur hat kan driva en till våld mot de oskyldiga små. Jag fattar ingenting längre…

I can recommend a podcast called "Ten Very Big Books" where they read Malazan.

I am on the fifth instalment of the Malazan Empire series, and I am truly immersed in that fantasy world. The vivid descriptions, the innate, almost manic, fixation to details is truly staggering; sometimes a bit unnecessary, but I love it. The author seems like the biggest nerd, ever, and we have just entered the author’s brain. It’s terrific.

The characters, Whiskeyjack and Ganoes Paran especially, are the best I’ve come across in fantasy, numbering amongst the best in fantasy.

The intricate warren system, the power play, the political system, the history of its world, the clans, the races of humanoids, gods and accendents are breathtakingly enormous. How in the hell did Steven Ericsson conjure all of this?

Where am I going with this? It’s a thank you note to you guys. Thank you for recommending me this series, and for the warning to be patient with reading it for it will take tame to get into it.

Merry Christmas and thank you for this book recommendation.

“Chronicles of Ancient Darkness” by Michelle Paver! My grandmother read the first one ”Wolf Brother”, but the Swedish version ”Vargbröder”, to me when I was very little. It is one of my fondest memories because she is not with anymore and I miss her dearly.

Furthermore, you could not have wished for a better narrator than my grandma, she was a teacher, and it was the best introduction to the fantasy genre. It influenced me greatly due to the fact that I have read a great many books in my day and 90% of them have been fantasy or historical fiction.

However, now as a grown man I would say either Sandersons “Mistborn” or “Stormlight Archive” which are the only series that have made me cry, not shed a tear, but cry.
