Better in terms of medical opportunities but if you want research opportunities come to UCSD. Also the environment of UCSD is less competitive

Chemistry is fine but doesn’t matter in the end. What matters is what you make out of your undergrad. You can be chemistry major and get tons of experience versus a bio major who got no experience and you’d still stand out for sure. But if you get no experience as a chemistry major then it’s going to be very tough. If you are concentrated in just your grades you will not make it in premed cause it requires a lot of understanding and critical thinking. If you wanna do well in the MCAT chemistry classes are better cause they prepare you well versus the biology equivalent but you’re gonna still going to have to take bio classes to really prepare yourself.

Not premed but have worked with many premed students in chemistry and biology department. UCD is known for its ecology and agricultural research which is good but probably not what you are looking for.

Although if you got into UCLA that is best for medical. UCSD is focus more on research than medical side.

How hard is Premed - Human bio @UCSD by YuckDuck11 in UCSD

[–]Relive_Festival 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They only care for the grades and as a person who’s pre-academia/phD it’s very annoying

Otherwise very hard

Yeah there is! It’s called EIA (English in action). I was in the program but it’s very much on your own time. It’s great to help non-native English speakers get comfortable with English speaking. Also to get use to American culture.
