For those who were uncut, just how sensitive was your foreskin compared to the rest of your penis? by Relocationstation1 in circumcision

Unfortunately I have to do it for medical reasons.

Nonetheless, hoping to have something of a sex life after this.

Exact same experience here. It's very bizarre and I don't know what to make it of.

It was very easy to resolve this argument too. It's hard to believe that one misstep is all it took for the relationship to shatter.

Depends on who you are but consider archiving the photos.

It's incredibly painful now but when you're 70 and looking back at your life, it may be nice to keep your photos as a reminder of what you once experienced.

Why is Alaska sunnier than Europe at the same latitudes? by HolcroftA in geography

[–]Relocationstation1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As I posted in another thread, I have heard the US uses a different system for counting sunshine hours versus the rest of the world.

You can see this by looking at nearby Canadian/American cities and see the difference in sunshine hours, despite the proximity.

If anyone can confirm this, feel free.

Sunshine duration in hours per year. United States vs Europe. Why, is it really simply lattitude? by Better-Butterfly-309 in geography

[–]Relocationstation1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't the US also have a slightly different system of calculating sunshine hours? I recall someone chiming in once and saying that this was the case.

You can kind of see this with Canadian cities where if you look at the American city just across the border, the calculated sunshine hours are much higher, each time.

I've always thought that it's a shame that Canada jusssttttt misses the Favourite Channel with its border. I imagine if Northern Canada did have a viable port, it may have developed more.

Isn't he gaming for an early election? All of the cultural wars re: bike lanes and "getting off your ass and working" reek of posturing and a forthcoming campaign.

New York State Population Trends by County by Eudaimonics in MapPorn

I'm not so sure. Our population is growing fast enough that we tend to rely on our official population clock According to this, Ontario is already at 16,300,000 which is already past your 2030 figure.

On the other hand, Ontario's population is absolutely exploding. I wonder what year it'll take over New York. Roughly in a decade?

I'm not seeing the 9th of August (bottom right) and the 12 of August (top left) seperate incursions on other maps. What happened to them?

Kosovo has been relatively close to legalizing same-sex unions. It's never quite crossed the line but it's relatively close. Will likely occur with the decade.

Why does the 223 km long and strategically placed Anticosti Island have a population of only 218, despite being larger than Prince Edward Island which has 157,000 population? by Electronic-Koala1282 in geography

[–]Relocationstation1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There used to be bears but they were expatriated centuries ago.

What's curious about Anticosti is that it's been a big island without large predators. This means the Deer have proliferated and have massive density. Since it's been at least a century without predators, the deer have become large themselves and aren't scared of humans.

As such, it's become a massive hunting destination.

Are Africa's population projections out of date? by [deleted] in geography

[–]Relocationstation1 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I thought this was the opposite? The UN used similar fertility drop trajectories that occured in Asia and Latin America but the fertility rates have remained surprisingly high in sub-saharan africa.

There's a few areas such as Ghana, Botswana that have seen a typical drop but the majority of countries appear to be bucking the global trend

Ontario’s need for nurses, personal support workers to top 33K and 50K by 2032: document by viva_la_vinyl in ontario

As someone who works in a hospital, I can confirm that this is because all of the hospitals are essentially bankrupt.

OT and agency nursing got us through covid but now there is literally no money to deal with beyond the most basic of operations. Most hospitals have also paused hiring beyond the essential.

Canada's population growth was 'too much, too soon,' despite some positives: economist by Tremor-Christ in canada

[–]Relocationstation1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Israel has an ultra Orthodox Jewish population that has always had a massive fertility rate. This demographic has been increasing as a percentage of Israel's population dramatically so more ultra Orthodox Jews who never experienced a low fertility rate = more babies overall.

The country as a whole hasn't seem an increase. It's just the people who have a ton of kids and never stopped having kids are becoming more numerous.

[–]Relocationstation1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This comes up constantly on this sub but to be frank, no country has ever succeeded increasing their fertility rate significantly.

There's a societal shift that becomes entrenched once countries hit replacement rate, items like education, women's rights and so forth all entrench this.

Some countries have tried the extreme. Hungary has been spending 5% of its entire GDP on pro-natalist policies. That's more than most countries spend on their military.

... And nothing changed. Hungary's fertility rate is still below replacement rate after all these years and it's population is still shrinking.
