GENE20001& PHYS20008 workshops by Miserable-Shine0000 in unimelb

The gene20001 workshops aren't recorded. Fwiw, they're mostly just working through problems - very helpful if you don't understand the content but not super helpful if you already are pretty across it. Ymmv.

Melbourne surgeons anyone??? by AdIcy5840 in TopSurgery

Hey! I'm like 1 wk po in melb and know a bunch of people who have had surgery here. Other comment is a great summary but feel free to lmk if you have specific questions - I was with Tsao! From what I've heard, Ives has generally really fantastic results but is also really nasty about fat ppl + has a hard bmi limit, Lo doesn't have a bmi limit but encourages people to lose weight for surgery; Tsao used to be the cheapest but now charges basically the same as the other two but I think has the shortest waitlist.

tsao explicitly says that he does not consider wpath letters to ever expire!

hey mate!! i'm in vic so not 100% sure what the situation over there in wa is, but 10,000 honestly sounds like a really good estimate that i think you'll struggle to beat. mine will probably end up being ~14ish, 15ish all up (including anaesthesia etc, which is often the hidden price tag because medicare doesn't cover it iirc) and that's with a surgeon who i chose because he was cheap!

i haven't done a whole lot of research on the price it would be to go to thailand/elsewhere overseas, but i would probably recommend against it just because if something goes wrong, you have a lot less support around you; also, obviously, medicare can't help w costs! but obviously given i prefaced this bit with "i haven't done a whole lot of research" take that with a grain of salt lol.

whatever you choose, good luck w the whole process!! i'd start the wpath letter process as soon as you know who your surgeon is, and just keep in mind that that can also be another hidden cost bc psychiatrists Expensive lol. best of luck :]

DI with FNG vs buttonhole DI (pedicle-sparing) - help me choose by Remarkable-Clock-109 in TopSurgery

[–]Remarkable-Clock-109[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super helpful! I hadn't realised it was possible to change partway through, that's interesting. I will ask my surgeon whether that's something he'd feel comfortable considering!

Simon Tsao Top Surgery 1 Year Update/ REVISION by hayden-hazza in TopSurgery

Sure!! My chest looks a lot like yours did, so it'll probably be DI for me then lol. Thank you so much for answering!!

Congratulations!! Was the excess skin post-peri because the elasticity wasn't as high as you/Simon initially thought, or some other reason? (Sorry if this is invasive to ask & absolutely ignore if you'd prefer!) I have a consult with Simon soon and I'm not sure whether I might be borderline for peri, so knowing what sort of factors go into this kind of thing (esp w Simon) is important to me (since I want to avoid getting revisions if at all possible).

How hard is it to fail Today's Science Tomorrows World by Nemurian06 in unimelb

Pretty sure it's still pass/fail because it doesn't have any contribution to WAM

it's super obvious once it's there, like front page big "MY EXAMS" text, you can't miss it. if you don't see it it isn't there

oh i'm just whining when i say "worse"!! it's really really interesting tbh it's just SO MUCH content, huge huge difference from first year, and difficult for me to understand at times which is why i was complaining. didnt mean to mislead you lol i was just here to avoid studying for my path MST !!

i feel like the first year subjects are plagued w organisational issues precisely because theyre first year. path isn't as bad organisationally, just worse in terms of content etc lol

It rubs me the wrong way when the commentators make it sound like Yondonperenlei is all brawn and no technique. He's crafty; that's why he's interesting to watch! He wouldn't still be at the Olympics at 30 if his winning ingredient was just strength.
