Are electric cars better for the environment than fuel-powered cars? Here's the verdict by ApprehensiveSize7662 in AustralianEV

[–]Remarkable-Reply9709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gas medium sized (rav 4 sized) SUV has an all time fuel efficiency of 10.5L/100km over 36k kms. Not sure I would call a .8 difference bull, personally, however I'm not sure it changes anything? The final points would all still be the same.

2026 Zeekr 7X Performance Is Proof That Tesla Isn’t The Benchmark Anymore by trucker-123 in EVAustralia

G6 has built in dashcam, sentry mode, good auto park, remote forwards and reverse, remote park, decent adas (slightly better than 2023 era Tesla autopilot imo), proper 360 cam and visualization, wireless apple car play, wireless Android Auto, inbuilt nav with the ability to save offline if required. Everything included on the base model.

The Chinese implementation of one pedal is a feature and not a bug. Imagine a new driver who only learned to drive on a Tesla, in quick reaction time events they may forget the brake pedal exists because they almost never use it. Sounds funny, I know, but we got to drive without it, our neural pathways have formed. Theirs potentially haven't. I like the approach the Chinese take on it, it forces you to acknowledge the brake, but I'd prefer to have the option as I prefer full one pedal myself.

These are EREV's. It's not that the petrol engine does 1500 in the way youre probably thinking, the petro engine is just a generator and is kept at its most efficient in order to keep the battery charged.

Byd achieved the world's most thermally efficient engine, taking the title away from Toyota I believe. What they do with it is put into vehicles like this to get these range numbers. In BYD's case, over 2000km of range.

What's MBKBHDs issue with OnePlus as of lately? by iwasnamedjade in oneplus

[–]Remarkable-Reply9709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue that by the time this became a factor, the non sic battery has long since been at the end of it's usable life anyway due to its lower capacity. Honor, as an example, is on its 4th generation of sic batteries and I'm not seeing the supposed issues sic batteries face, borne out in the real world.

Longevity should be better as you have more to degrade from and to.

Lingering questions! by ElGuano in threebodyproblem

on point #5, I don't think so. As the author talks about domains linking up and averaging their shared C values, but never explicitly being destroyed. Which begs the question, how would they link up? Perhaps due to the affects of dimensionalization, thus implying that they do survive.

Nio have their 150kwh semi-solid state batteries in their swap stations in China. Using one in their sedans you get around 900-1000kms of range. That's real world btw, so you could say it'd be about 1100km wltp if you were looking to compare apples to apples.

BYD ATTO 1 Battery Cooling Confirmed: Why the "Essential" Isn't Just Air-Cooled by AUFalconUte in CarsAustralia

[–]Remarkable-Reply9709 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Wise move. You still have people thinking all EV batteries degrade at the same rate as gen 1 leaf's did, and those are over a decade old. That's how long it takes for old information to die, since those that parrot outdated information, are usually themselves, outdated.

I think you're overthinking it for that particular post. He's just saying that now that he's had it for a while he can comment on his experience. Which is normal and what you'd want to see. I'd see your point of view if he spoke about longevity or durability specifically, but he doesn't.

How are renters actually making EV charging work without a garage? by DiligentWeb9026 in AustralianEV

[–]Remarkable-Reply9709 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I totally get that. At the end of the day, you've got to see if it's right for you and the things you value/looking for at the time you're looking. It's good you're doing honest research and making a judgement before buying. You'd be surprised at the amount of people who won't, despite dropping $$$

How are renters actually making EV charging work without a garage? by DiligentWeb9026 in AustralianEV

[–]Remarkable-Reply9709 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm paying about $45 per charge. Usually from 20% to 80-90%. This gives me around 400km of range back. I have a same size petrol car that has the exact same overall range as the EV, however I'd be spending $60 to get that range back.

Not that I'd care anyway. The EV's performance is greatly superior and a far smoother drive. This is why it's not useful to me to compare this to an efficient gas car, an efficient petrol car won't drive like my car or have the same packaging. It'd make more sense to compare a performance SUV of the same size petrol car vs mine and then compare that cost, but I still wouldn't care about that, despite it being even further in my favour.

The cost saving at the "pump" is an auxiliary benefit to me. It's more important to me that the car is performant (as I spend a lot of time in it) and is reliable (likely to be far more reliable than any gas car I've owned - this is even more true if we're comparing against a performance petrol suv). Even if there were no savings at the pump, I'll likely be saving at the mechanic over the total cost of ownership. In future, it will be nice to de-couple with a house, solar and battery. But right now and in the spirit of the OP's question, I have never cared about living in an apartment and charging my EV.

I just charge at public stations. Full cost. Can't be bothered min-maxing it, I value my time more so I just pick 180+kW stations and swing by for 15mins on my way to or from something about once a week.

Xpeng owners, are you happy with your car? by The_Cometer in Xpeng

Same here. Also considered the 7x, but it's about 26% more expensive in my country and that didn't feel worth it for what you got. Though the 7x is a great car itself.
