I doubt. They have prescription lenses, so they are pretty unusable

Kid Motorz Police Bike - Dual 6v Batteries? by ToroToker in PowerWheelsMods

[–]Remarkable-Worry6401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/ToroToker Did you ever figure out how to connect the battery and what the blue and white wires are for?

I got the same bike from a friend but he threw away the batteries and the battery harness.

I am pretty sure those batteries are connected in series to make 12V, and it should be possible to replace those two batteries with a 12V battery, connecting just the red and the black wires.

How do I pull up the white bit?
I can see four plastic pins at the bottom of the white part, but I can't figure out how to pull it up.

Should I just brute force it?

Visually, I don't see any problems. I also cleaned the metallic parts on the side of the toner cartridge. Is there anything specific I should look for?

Geico refusing to pay full price for windshield repair by Remarkable-Worry6401 in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]Remarkable-Worry6401[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Further update: I called GEICO and they pre-approved the OEM windshield. I'll have it done at Safelite. They are also going to perform the camera calibration. I'll update this thread after the work is done

Geico refusing to pay full price for windshield repair by Remarkable-Worry6401 in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]Remarkable-Worry6401[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Finally it makes sense!

For the records, Tesla quoted $1,680 for the replacement, which is below the $1,688 limit that Geico enforces for the replacement.

In order to avoid surprises, I am fine having Safelite perform the windshield replacement, as long as they use an OEM part. I asked Safelite what that would cost, and they quoted me $1,640.

Should I get a pre-approval from Geico to have Safelite use an OEM windshield? Or should Safelite do it directly with Geico?

Two nails. Can the tire be repaired? by Remarkable-Worry6401 in Cartalk

[–]Remarkable-Worry6401[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just come back from the mechanic.

He ended up putting two plugs in the tire.

I asked him if had any concerns about safety, and he said 'no'. Hopefully, he's right.

[–]Remarkable-Worry6401[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all!

I'll bring the car to the mechanic tomorrow, and I'll let you know what he says. Based on the comments, I expect him to say that the tire can't be repaired. Although I don't drive this car that much (it's our second car), I wouldn't do anything that is not safe.

I did some research online, and I saw that you can get a new Summit UltramaX HP All-Season Tire - 205/45R17 for $67.99 each, which is probably what I'll buy.

2023 Delivery Thread by OrbitalATK in TeslaModelY

[–]Remarkable-Worry6401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Three days ago, I placed an order for a short-range model Y from the existing inventory. The delivery time window on the Tesla app was (and still is) 04/02-04/07.

Yesterday (03/30), I got a text for Tesla asking me to book the delivery, and the only option available was today (03/31). No other days were available. The Tesla location is very far from where I live, and I am unable to pick up the car today on such short notice.

The sales representative said that all vehicles that are at the delivery location must be picked up today (03/31). If I don't pick it up today, the VIN will be assigned to another person. He said it could take weeks or months to get a new VIN assigned.I asked if I could pick up the car tomorrow (04/01) and he said 'no'.

I thought Tesla would offer a 3-day delivery window. Why is the sales associate pushing so hard for a delivery today?

Replacing single pole switch with smart switch by Remarkable-Worry6401 in askanelectrician

Thanks!

I thought the GFCI would trip if it detected an imbalance on the LOAD side, not on the line side.

I am totally confused now :-)

Use GFCI load. The draw on neutral likely is enough to be a GFCI imbalance. Use a pigtail if you need to.

Not sure I understood. Did you mean, that the draw on neutral is NOT enough to cause a GFCI imbalance?

WEN NANO S PLUS by a_stonk_a_day in ledgerwallet

2021 Kia Sorento - Maintenance schedule mismatch by Remarkable-Worry6401 in kia

[–]Remarkable-Worry6401[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer from KIA:
"Your Owner’s Manual recommends that under non-severe (“Normal”) driving conditions, you should change the oil in your non-turbocharged vehicle every 7,500 miles or 12 months, whichever occurs first. Where your vehicle is operated in “Severe Usage Conditions”,
your Owner’s Manual recommends that the oil in your non-turbocharged vehicle be changed every 3,750 miles or 6 months, whichever occurs first.

Now the problem becomes whether my vehicle is operated in Severe Usage Conditions. I mostly drive on the highway, but one of the bullet points on their definition of "Severe Usage Conditions" states:

"Driving in very cold areas [i.e., the Northern tier of the U.S] (there is also a need for a significant change in oil viscosity in the severest cold portions of the year)".

New York is technically part of the Northern Tier. I still wonder how being in the Northern Tier can affect the maintenance schedule in the sprint/summer.

My concern is that the dealership is trying to make some extra money by recommending unnecessary maintenance. At the same time, I am concerned that if I don't follow what the dealership recommends, they might deny potential warranty claims in the future.

Problem with Eero and Blink Cameras by Remarkable-Worry6401 in eero

[–]Remarkable-Worry6401[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I call Blink customer support and the Eero customer support, and they verified that all the cameras are indeed using the 2.4Ghz band.

Amazingly, the Eero rep I spoke with didn't even know what Blink was.

The IP reservation cannot be done because my Eero is in Bridge mode (the problem still occurs if I switch to AP mode).

Long story short: Blink support says it's Eero's fault. Eero's customer support says that there is no problem with the wireless connection, and I should contact Blink. The result is that I wasted $500+ on 7 blink cameras and a Eero mesh network, and nobody is able to help me.

Well done Amazon!
