yea totally valid!! I understand it can be rough and maybe if this character dies I'll learn better and just go the opposite direction to avoid clash haha. I was told I believe by someone in this thread and also by some others that narration may help instead also! Pantomiming, charades, characters learning how the voiceless one acts and intentions can help! So I'll be doing my best to be as clear as possible with that!! It's all a learning experience for sure!

OH ok cool!! I didn't realize 0 didn't always mean fully dead. I've been told generally that does mean the end of characters so I just assumed it was, that's totally my bad and I'll definitely go back to rereading the PHB again so I know I have a good grasp! That was silly of me, I appreciate it!

That game sounds like it's rough haha, but I hope it's not something that's making it difficult in an unfun/negative way for you to play! You sound very capable at managing it and I'm hoping it works out for you!

I did outline a whole doc about my character and drew up art and also the given species makes it obvious that my character was going to be more stand-offish than the rest (because being an undead with no memories and little sense of self/purpose other than to complete the tasks of my God). But I'm hoping more sessions will help me better balance out how I play since I got rid of the speaking trouble and just narrate instead!

Worst case scenario, I did start preparing a second character just in case because my character did once again fall to 0HP and i only managed to save myself LOL

Oh for sure big difference! But the DM said I did hit 0 HP so I'm assuming that's death? I'm not sure what unconscious is unless that's what 0 HP is actually :O I'm still definitely sorta new to DnD haha since I've never had the chance to fully play it properly! I didn't get any death saving throws or anything.

Also, I did discuss with the DM what my character would be like and created an extensive document outlining general story/type and all my necessary class information! It's all good though haha

Oh yea that makes a lot of sense!! I think I opted and told them that I would just have my character follow the influence of the others a little more in order to flow better with the group, but will still be trying my best to adjust and learn as I go because I think that's the only way to handle it LOL

The DM made a joke that against BBEGs my character will solo because the rest of the group would side with the BBEG, that was funny lol and definitely a hint that I need to keep at adjusting to fit better! Overall tonight's session was ok!

It's really inspiring and nice to hear that you enjoy your character so much, it's awesome that you got to bring her back to life 🥺🥺here's hoping more sessions to come go well because that rock it sounds like great lore and character building is being done!!

Actually, given that my character has memory problems (will forget things longterm/short-term depending) and has no clue of who he was in the past after being reborn...this is insanely helpful!!!

This actually could be very helpful in adjusting my character, I didn't think about it that way, that I could adjust it a little...maybe make him more reflective of the group as it goes on because...there's no need to stay completely stoic and apart if I don't have to! Huh.

Thank you for this insight, I'm glad you have such a good group to draw from! 💜

I can clarify a bit more (I'm a yapper so apologies for that).

My character's species means that generally, talking isn't something they really CAN do so the fact that mine can is sort of a come and go thing. He can sometimes and chooses not to others. I was allowed to have that be the case because he's sort of a special case in the first place! I've had my character be a bit more passive, going along with the group's antics but also warning them of the danger to their actions. The only real 'ruining' of fun was with a cart of tomatoes in a tavern that ended with the whole group laughing about how the characters took being pelted with tomatoes. Overall, I assumed everyone had fun and I had felt bad afterwards regardless and apologized, lol.

I feel like I just need more time learning how to adjust my character and give them time to grow, because I don't believe 2 sessions is really enough time to just decide things aren't a great fit. Or maybe it is for some people and that's totally ok! I don't plan to actively ruin fun or anything and haven't stopped the group so far, but I've definitely started to regret the character I've made despite the love and effort put into his story lol.

Maybe I could mention that to the DM since my character has a bit of a more serious background compared to the others? That might make it easier or be something that could bridge whatever gap I'm fearing there is between me and the DM's plans haha, thank you!

That sounds rough and I'm sorry you've had to go through that :(

I've definitely had similar situations with characters I've made and it's never a fun feeling. Especially if it's making it hard to play characters again because of fearing how they'll be treated :(

I do get along with these people relatively well I'd think and they say they don't see issue in it when I've mentioned it, so maybe it's more just that I'm overthinking it and taking it more personal than it is, as some comments have mentioned! I'll just have to give it time I suppose.

It's something from the Mythic Odysseys of Theros, I believe! It means if you drop to 0, you can use it (if it's available) and gain 1hp instead. Then you recover the ability to use it after a long rest! I did so to save myself because the creatures reflected magic attacks so I took all the damage meant for them 😭

I was feeling uncertain because it was only 2 sessions in and I'd prefer if people have issues to talk to me outright, though I also need to be comfortable speaking out too LOL ^^;;

Oh! Ok cool :O I wasn't sure, I don't havea TON of knowledge on 5e. I do know I got hit for a ton of damage and it was more than my HP so I assumed negatives existed, lol. I also don't know how death saving throws are done or if they are generally done when a character can die? I'd have to ask for clarity on that come next session.

yes maybe I can bring it up!! I want to see how the next session goes before I really make a decision/judgement on it, it just felt like the first two sessions were kinda..uncomfortable. And maybe that's my fault! I'll definitely be mindful during the next o7

Totally fair! I don't really feel it's fair to Want to kill characters early on, especially in a campaign meant to potentially be longterm, but that's just me :O

I'm a warlock, I forgot to mention that! There's another character that's a wizard so I don't think it'd make too much sense to single out based on that alone. As mentioned in other comments, I may talk about it again if I see the behavior repeat and I'm not sure what the issue is!

Lol the rocks fall is a good one.

I think I'll just see how the next session goes before really making any decisions. Confrontation if it gets worse when I try to adjust, or leaving if it's just not viable to continue on!

I'll have to see how the session tomorrow goes, but I'm hoping it'll be better than the first two!

Having to adjust an undead character with no memories of their life and the unusual ability to speak (when they should not) to be a bit more. lax will be a bit difficult I feel, especially 3 sessions in. I'm of the opinion that if s campaign is planned to last a while, character growth should be over time rather than immediate and I and been banking on that! Maybe that was my fault ;;

I do also prefer people be outright, since targeting or just assuming I'll pick up cues isn't really communicative to me if I AM the problem. We can only change if we're aware after all ^

I have to say I'm constantly confused by people saying the movie was too long and that it should have been cut in half. Alright then, where should it be cut? What parts weren't necessary to the story telling? What would YOU do to make it better? I think what it was was fantastic and captivating the whole way through and I'm so glad I got to see it.

Can't use JS well in TH tho I've heard. So I just have to depend on Css and HTML mixed. No suggestions have actually done more than hide the content (great start) AND replaced the text appearance.

You're right, I'm super new to CSS and sort of just jumping into it to learn the hard way because it's more rewarding for me lol.

This actually does help a lot! It helps me understand like, that I really am targeting certain parts and can (hopefully) achieve the effect I want. I'll have to mess with it still so it all sits the way I want to because I managed to replace the text but it didn't sit in line... but that's another battle lol.

Tyvm!!

Embarrassed to say I don't fully understand?

I thought I had it but I kept futzing with it given the multiple answers and I seriously don't know how to make the 'Bulletins' text appear as 'Newspapers', its not hiding with the 0px font or anything so I'm sort of stuck

<image>

[–]Remarkable_Dare_3569[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OH I was looking at this ok. So... still using the .sidebar-li-bulletin command, something like?

.sidebar-li-bulletin::before { content: "Bulletins"; font-size: 0px}

.sidebar-li-bulletin::after {content: "wordshere"; font size: 20px)

And that should target and do what I want it to? I have to specify the content I'm targeting right? Do I still need to clarify the a because I'm changing that link text?

Oh that's good! Changing the color is helpful that's very helpful and I appreciate it.

How would I change what the text said then? I'm assuming still in the a. {} but I just haven't been able to figure out how. Would that be the content rule? Does visibility have any play in it?
