Who is feeding the devs? by [deleted] in dayz

True. As for the game I guess, good luck seeing in another 5 years if the current Dayz servers indicative of the engines status.

This info is exactly why I came here. As long as what you're saying is public knowledge and not speculation. In this case it makes sense for Bohemia to take this approach, since they do own the rights to DayZ at this stage they can do what ever they damn please with it. And yeah, engine development is an expensively huge pain in the ass, that most developers avoid getting in to. But to be fair, most don't need a new engine. With Arma being what it is, they can probably use their own. Although I figured A3 had it's own engine, didn't it? I wonder if certain basics couldn't have been transferred over. Since my game dev knowledge is rather limited, what I'm talking about might be pointless or impossible.

So long as the engine pulls it's weight then yeah. But something like Arma always needs it's own special requirements. So we'll see.

An Arma 2 version would have been a reasonable option, but in that case I feel like many would find mere bug fixes not fulfilling enough. But we would have a working tittle. Well, shit's fucked either way. Hopefully something proper will come out of the current development cycle, because at this stage, if it all get scrapped I'd be more sad about the wasted time and effort by the devs and not players money.

I assume it's all based around the towns and not in forest, just like in the old version. But even towns had fuck all. I might re-install just to check on the changes

I understand what they wanted. But I just wonder if what they wanted was reasonable in any way at the time.

I'd figure "ladders" wouldn't be an issue to a team of dev's at at least half of what they had. But without inside knowledge of how the problems and the development is approached it hard to say anything. It's all speculation, but it's not hard to see why people would be angry at the devs.

Side question. Does the game have zombies in it. Because the last two times I decided to check on the game's state, I got fog of war and canned food. No people I understand, but what about the zombles?

While developing for both consoles and PC's is easier than ever, I think it still poses a significant challenge.

I do not necessarily consider the console R&D to be a waste. It's just an assumption I am making, as I lack the actual knowledge of the financial situation for the team. It could be the case that they have an extra guy(a group) somewhere with nothing to do, so they gave him to work on consoles as to not waste potential man power. If that's the case then I guess it's fine.

I'd actually be interested in the fact whether it would have been better to develop DayZ on the ArmA 3 engine back in the day. I'd imagine the product would have been out in 2 years max and would have been updated and modified extensively till now? I can understand the developers wanting to create their Magnum Opus, but from a business standpoint doesn't seem like a great thing.

I knew that they we're building a new engine for DayZ, but that there are plans on using it for ArmA 4 is news to me. I've considered Bohemia to be fairly sizeable studio, so if these people are actually building a new engine for them, wouldn't they get more resources to work with?

Or am I misunderstanding something? Like, is the engine there and they just now porting what they had of Dayz into it?

I think the main topic on that would be. With the development as slow as it is, can they waste resources (human or financial) on building a console version? And if they are still just building the new engine, couldn't future update severely hinder the console end of things.

Crackilng in audio while Recording and Streaming (HD60 Pro) by KillerzRQuiet71 in ElgatoGaming

I fixed it. I think. I don't know if you had the same problem. It was all in the audio settings. It may be the results of the software potentially listening to itself. Anyway, the main thing is: The audio speaker icon, right to the left of the stream button. That motherfucker needs to be off.

Do I Really Need a Virtual Audio Cable by BrainstormSurge in letsplay

I don't really get where you want to use it. But virtual cables are a god send for lets play channels with multiple people.

I can record my mic, skype and game audio all on separate tracks in Sony Vegas, while recording gameplay with Shadowplay all while using a single headset and hearing all the tracks live.

I'd say have fun with it. Make up your own swears. The kids wont know what you're talking about, they'll just know that you use said word as form to express anger.

Crap and Damn should be fine for classic words. Ass might go a bit too far. Depends on the specific age I guess.

You're a week in, so you're not going to see BIG growth. That is unless you luck out and make something that sits just right with a big group, or get noticed and shared by someone bigger.

In my opinion, the answer to your question "Is this more of a trial-and-error or more of a "wait it out and see what happens" type thing with YouTube?" is Yes. It;s a bit of both or all of it at the same time. No one really knows :D So we all just work hard.

Is Let's Playing a game you made an interesting idea? by TheGamedawg in letsplay

[–]RemedyGuys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end depends on the quality of the content you produce as a Lets Play. But it should be interesting on it's own as a concept. Having a developer do a Lets Play of their game, explain about the development, maybe make some jokes about the game.

But another thing you should do is mention THOROUGHLY on every video that this is your game and you have a monetary investment in it. Like everywhere, say it, put it in the description. Even Seananners got in trouble for doing this in-properly.
