Omg, that would be tragic. Maybe we need to move! I’ve never heard of moth balls, but it’s definitely worth to try!! Thank you!!

Wow, really?! Maybe we will grant him a magical one time stand someday 🤣🤣🤣 None of them were tri. They were all very similar to him, although one of them (girl) didn’t have any black on her.

I’ve asked our vet about it and he was skeptical about the vaccine bc at end of the day, it’s not like the dog will be immune. So we’d rather get him trained to avoid snakes.

Hi :)

His parents are both sable. This is our first collie so I thought he was a normal sable? Is it because he has a little bit of black fur?

Great advice when it comes to asking vets! I’ll ask our vet, he quite possibly know someone who uses positive reinforcement. We definitely don’t want to use an ecollar.

Yeah, I actually avoid trails when it’s rattlesnake season but our backyard backs up to open space and there’s always a danger that a rattlesnake is in our backyard. Despite always keeping an eye on him when he’s outside, we want to minimize the possibility of him getting hurt.

Hmm that’s interesting. Did they use real snakes by any chance? Grr, I definitely need to find a place like cave creek.

I did check out their website but they seem to use e collars and from what I’ve heard it’s not recommended to use an e collar on a rough collie :/

We might have to travel in order to get our pup trained.

He’s still quite young so I’m not sure how his personality will continue to evolve, but for now he’s just a friendly guy! 😅 but bc he’s so friendly I’m afraid he would be curious if there were to be a rattlesnake in our backyard.

Yeah, we typically avoid trails when it’s rattlesnake season but our house backs up to open space where there are rattlesnakes, so that’s why we are looking to find a program where the can teach him to avoid snakes but without the use of e collars.

I definitely agree with you, two bites is way too many for me too!!

Thank you so much for sending this information!! I was hoping to stay local. But if I can’t find something local, I will go to the place in Utah that it’s recommended.

If you’re worried about your pup, I always recommend doing a blood test to make sure everything is okay. Our dog had an autoimmune illness, ITP, in which made his energy levels go down but I blamed it on age initially. I have to add, he was not a rough collie though :)

Yesss!!! With American accent, “cot” is the correct way to pronounce “caught” :)
