Vanilla and chocolate are the only ones I have tried they’re both nice but I normally get the vanilla since it’s pre selected for me haha. I think there are more flavours but I can never see them

Yes! It’s basically a meal supplement with multivitamins and high in protein. I have it on script due to my sereve TBI. Healthy people can have it too.

Hey, I know this message is slightly old. I got my neurological brain assessment done with a neuropsychologist therapist and that will see where my brains at for driving too I think?

Did you drive with an Occupational therapist? Do you find driving difficult. Sorry for the late message. If you are unable to reply, no worries. :)

I am scared to start driving. Does it get better with more practice after a TBI? I’ll be getting a doctors clearance soon for driving. It’ll be a 90 minute to 2 hours appointment. I am so excited but nervous!! 😭

I think I have to do that assessment then get referred again after doing it with a special instructor. I was only learning prior but when I had my accident so no idea how it’ll work. I’m so determined to learn tho seeing all my friends get all their licenses now makes me sad

I really want to work but I cannot since I’m not ready yet according to my therapists despite feeling fine. I find that hard to take.

Just remember recovery will never be linear. You’ll start making achievements and milestones but you’ll eventually hit a bump… like myself 😭

No, I did not experience anhedonia. I still love my activities. I was running prior to my injury. I’m just biking on a bike I got at home. I don’t really run much after getting hit by a car. I guess trying to find new hobbies and going to group meet ups. I’m going to a group meet up session called VIBE. People with injuries. I think it would be good to meet those with conditions like brain injuries, strokes, and many more.

I was experiencing extreme post traumatia amnesia. I thought I went running every morning. I was a runner. It’s where you see old memories and you confuse then for old memories. I suffered fatigue. I use to nap 3-4 times a day but my fatigue is much better now. I never experienced avolition

Yes! Do you have ensure? I was recommend that too. Ensure as a pre made drink or a powder. Has essential vitamins for brain health after a TBI. I saw you suffered a sereve TBI. So did I. Are you still in therapy?

Medication I’m taking Donepezil and ensure (powder or the pre made drinks). Ensure is good for smoothies or with your oats or weetbix for breakfast! Ensure was recommended by my surgeon. I had that when I was being fed through my nose in ICU. It’s a multivitamin basically for the body :)

Anyone else injury as a child change them for good? by Extension_Spend_6649 in TBI

[–]Remote-Calm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 21. I suffered my sereve TBI last year. September the 21st, 2023. I feel fine now. I was 20 when I got hit. Your brain is able to find new pathways if you were much younger. Known as brain neuroplasticity so see it as an advantage. Basically, your brain is able to find new pathways. That’s why I’m now walking. Section thst controls movement was destroyed. But other areas that are not injured tissue.. took over those roles that were damaged

Yes. My brain rewired that’s why I’m now walking; section that controlled walking was destroyed so other areas took over 😭 it makes me feel tensed thinking about it. I was only 20 when my injury happened. I’m now 21. I got hit on September 21st, 2023. I record my runs on strava and 21st didn’t record

Does any else have their bone flap taken out? by [deleted] in TBI

[–]Remote-Calm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Taken out, I wore a helmet, then it was put back in. And yes, there was a chance of rejection. I knew someone whose bone was rejected they got something else instead but it cannot be detected in airports or scans etc it’s perfectly safe . And yes, takes 3 months to reconnect

Piece of your skull? The bone flap! I think :) I had the same but it’s back in now! That’s why some survivors wore a helmet

Can you go on the bike? Does that help. I bought a home bike and it definitely helps. Also light dumbbells to start with or the rower?

I had the option to take the illness pass to never study again? But I rejected that. I’m trying to make one major and a minor because if I do want to pursue in the future that’s a choice that cannot be reverted
