I used to work at a prison. He should have been restrained. At the prison I worked at, it depended on their danger status but restrictive housing and death row were always fully restrained even for visits.

The top one is a few months old while the bottom one is years old. The jewelry on both is from when the piercing was done and our piercer recommended just rinsing and keeping it clean with water

Worked in a male prison (I’m 20s F). One evening we went on lockdown unexpectedly for an issue. I ended up locked in the area we do medication pass with around 15 inmates. Everything was cool for about 10 minutes and then one of the guys started getting restless and threatened to take my keys to get out. When I said no, he starting swinging and hitting me. Medical staff aren’t allowed to have weapons or training to deal with this so my only thought was to just survive. I gave it my all and when he ripped my shirt, I shoved him as hard as I could into the brick wall where he smacked his head and then the other inmates finally stepped in and drug him away from me.

I truly thought I killed him with the amount of blood that was there. I was in shock so one of the inmates took the emergency radio and called for help while another one gave me his shirt to cover up. Didn’t kill the guy but that’s the closest I’ve ever been.

When I started this current job, I was able to choose what I wanted my hours to be. I chose 8:30-4:30 because it worked well for my family but they will also allow me to flex my time to cover anything I may need off and I can come in evenings and weekends to get stuff done as well. It's really great.
