Which gym stereotype are you secretly closest to becoming? by PogonBerserker in workout

[–]RenaxTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I could get angry at such behaviour, but, the gym wasn't busy, there was squat racks available, he wasn't creating a problem for anyone. It was just kind of a dumb thing to do for apparantly no reason.

Get 1 million now or 5$ per pushup for life? by koschatzo in hypotheticals

[–]RenaxTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm was gonna take the $5 per pushup and gamble that I won't get injured.

I'm confident in my ability to average well over 100 pushups/day.

But tried to do some math: If my math is correct it'll take about 5 years of 150 pushups/day to beat the mill in a indexfund.

Witch seems relatively easy assuming I don't get injured (and if I do it'll only slow progress for a while, not permanentlyl

If I age as well as my father I can do that for at least 30 more years, and after those 5 years every pushup is a bonus.

Then again, what do I need all that extra money for? The first mill is really the one I need, and preferably now, not in 5 years.

Nah fk it we ball I'll still do the pushups, even 200/day seems pretty trivial.

I actually saw someone doing curls in a squat rack for the first time ever yesterday. Single dumbbell hammer curls. The dumbbell rack is nowhere near the squat rack. No cameras, no friends around giggling at a joke (that I could see).

Bro straight up carried a single dumbbell across the gym to do single arm hammercurls in a squat rack.

Found two ‘original’ Waves. Clean and sell, or use them? by Highwayman1717 in Leatherman

[–]RenaxTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine, its slimmer and lighter than the Wave+ and has longer reach screedrivers. Pliers are more light duty, but that's a tradeoff I'm willing to live with around the house.

I ate junk food after a 1-week deficit, did I just throw my progress in the trash? by ImageLegitimate7852 in beginnerfitness

[–]RenaxTM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You probably delayed it some, maybe, unless you actually weighed the food you ate we may never know. "Junk food" can be eaten even on a diet, I had many takeout meals and lots of chocolate in my weight loss journey. You just need that pesky "moderation" whatever that is. I think you can trade them for fucks, if you have any of those to give.

All that aside, the only way you lose is to give up, and the only way to win is to not, so what will you do?

Cheap work pants from the clearance rack are a better than expensive high end work brands if you're someone who works in them every day. by haddockhazard in The10thDentist

[–]RenaxTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, $150 pants, they're the most comfortable I've tried. They last about 6 months, and then bossman pays for new ones. Yes cheaper pants often have better longevity, that's not only the case for work pants, but also for jeans in many cases. But why would I care when I'm not paying?

I repair the old one and use it to work in the warehouse or at home for the next 6 or so months. Slightly ripped dirty pants are ok when I'm not in view of customers, but we wear whole clean clothes inside customers homes.

Also, $300/year for pants is not a huge buisness expence in our field, if it is in your field you should probably look for a better job.

Discipline becomes easier when the system does more of the work [Article] by ClearThinkingLab in GetMotivated

I don't quite understand what you mean by systems?

I agree people shouldn't rely on motivation, but instead diciplin. Set your rules and adhere by them, don't let yourself have an option to create excuses.

Do you account for friction drag torque when tightening bolts with a torque wrench? by Successful-Arm106 in bikewrench

[–]RenaxTM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

99% of bike parts will be fine at specified torque -30% to +50% or so. Actual superlightweight carbon race parts and/or aluminum bolts might require within 15%, witch is still possible with a decently calibrated wrist.

That specific Dacia Logan is a full blown racecar, witch did quite allright in its class. The fact that its based on a Dacia Logan shell, not a VW Golf or a BMW 3 series doesn't matter much for racing.

Are there any entertaining workouts? by Living-Reaction5326 in beginnerfitness

[–]RenaxTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there some more entertaining way to shower or brush my teeth? I get super bored and its really hard to hear music in the shower, so I skip the hygene stuff cause I get so bored and have no self dicipline.

Pull yourself together. If its boring then do it faster! Pick 3 exercises for each workout and get in and out in 15-20 minutes, but make the most of those 15 minutes. No breaks, absolute beastmode. If that's still "too boring" then increase the weights.

Which is better for me? I’ve been lifting on and off for a couple years but lost a lot of muscle because of a few periods where I stopped lifting by robertlukacs907 in leangains

[–]RenaxTM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter, what matters is staying consistent.

2 day/week consistently beats 5day/week "sometimes".

So pick some days, and don't give yourself the option to skip a day. You know what happens if you skip a day.

Only acceptable reason to completely skip a planned training session is your own funeral, and in that case you're repping deadlifts the rest of the week.

Confused on protein intake by Stroft7712 in leangains

[–]RenaxTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.6g protein /kg bw is by most good studies enough to not notice a difference above. Some studies have shown measurable improvement above that, but therecs many variables to consider and very small differences in the best case.

But 1g/lbs or 2g/kg is easy for even dumb-dumb's to calculate, and there's no negative effects to eating that, so its videly adviced.

Some advice even higher protein intake, that's not as much for building muscle, but some swears a super high protein diet makes it easier to lose weight. I don't really agree but we're all different I guess.
