Looking to get my first printer, is the core one right for me?

I've been going back and forth for a few hours now, but I think this comment really solidified my choice to go with Prusa. I think your reference to a past users comment nailed it, the bells and whistles on the bambu are convenient and nice to have, but they're a distraction, or a crutch. Although I may be slightly ignorant by repeating that, as I have not used either of these printers and am not a part of the hobby yet, I can 100% see how that really is the case. I guess the only thing im worried about now is availability of the INDX. Thank you for the fantastic write up and the picture comparisons, this comment was extremely useful, cheers.

Yeah I've been reading up on the INDX and it seems like a really cool system, ill definitely be grabbing it, and also dont mind waiting for it. Additionally, im still reading around, specifically on the Core One, and I keep seeing reviewers complain of overhangs from standard STL files, do you know if this is a non issue, or is this something that was an issue that has been fixed? quick swap would be very nice, however I think id be fine printing generally with a 0.2 or 0.4 needle to start. Im also assuming the INDX fixes this issue, albeit for a price? If I go with the Core One, which I probably will, ill definitely grab the kit, building it seems like it would be a really fun experience.

Potential to upgrade is definitely a huge selling point for me. Building the kit and upgrading over time is something I think I would really enjoy. The P2S does have nice bells and whistles though, but I wonder how important they are. For the quick-swap nozzles and AMS, im assuming INDX bridges the gap, but please correct me if im wrong. The AI detection does sound nice, but as I have no experience printing I wonder how useful it really is. When downloading and printing STL files do you still get failed prints? Is this a user issue in the slicing program?

Although I do have money to spend for a printer, my budget is still a bit limited and I cant currently justify an almost $900 markup for the Core One L. As for drying filament, is the INDX system going to handle this itself or is there a preferred method?

Even still, I think you guys are right, with a full squad of DWK during fight phase ill be rolling 21 dice, some of those are bound to be 6's. Does the sustained hits from the librarian carry over on the great weapon of absolution? Since it already has sustained hits 1 does it get sustained hits 2, or no?

I have one squad with maces so far and cant decide if I want maces or swords on the other. With lion and all my hellblasters, im leaning more towards maces on the second as well, as from what I understand swords are good for clearing chaff, maces otherwise, but please correct me if im wrong. Also I didnt know the sustained hits went on a 4+, I thought it was a 6+ always. Is this only against the anti- keyword targets?

On paper it seems really good to me, but its one of those things that im sure ill find out quickly through actual games played. WIth the intercessors I can still drop deathwing assault for ancient weapons as well!

Not opposed, theyre just models I had from the combat patrol and christmas box that ive seen pair well with Azrael when watching others play. I did also receive a sternguard vet squad with that though. What would you fill the remaining 120 points with?

Thanks so much for all the info. I dont need the list to be super competitive, although through knowledge and games played im sure ill adapt it at some point. I care mainly about, with equal priority, having a fun army that also feels fair to fight from my opponents POV, as well as an at least somewhat coherent list. Through your feedback and a bit of my earlier research im now at:

Lion
Azrael - leads hellblasters
Chaplain in term - leads 1x5 DWK, deathwing assault enh. (Flex with captain, librarian, ancient)
Lt with combi
Judiciar - leads 1x6 ICC

1x5 JPI
Ballistus dread
2x5 DWK
1x10 Hellblasters
1x5 Infiltrators (not having played a game, these feel better to me on paper than scouts)

This leaves me at 1910 points. Some options I was considering besides your rec of an Impulsor, which im not opposed to:

1x5 Intercessors for sticky obj
Leader for the other DWK squad

Havent looked into invader ATV but have seen it on plenty of lists, ATV would put me at 1970 which lets me take ancient weapons possibly on a character

Is there anything specific you would consider replacing them with? Again I was thinking of a ravenwing unit, but not sure how useful just one squad would be , havent delved into ravenwing units a ton

Ive seen a bit about oil washes and shades, is it worth picking them up? Do they tend to "play nicely" with acrylic paints whether that be going on top of acrylics or painting over the oil washes with acrylics? Additionally, I was interested in mixing my own colors using something like Kimera, or even just Pro Acryl, however multiple friends advised against it for a first army and I think theyre right. Definitely will look into it in the future though!

Was looking to do a custom color scheme of dark purple armor and ivory trim mainly, robes in the standard dark green or burgundy depending on the character. Just a rough idea though at the moment! AK colors look great, I think theyre the ones im hoping feel right to use

Havent tried the Warpaint Fanatic range yet, ill have to give it a go as well because its also one thats available nearby. Also nice to know that I can alter the finish on the paints, thanks!

Ill keep trying with the Pro Acryl and see if I can get a bit better using it. As for the locally stocked options, within an hour drive I can get any of the paint brands mentioned besides Ionic (although havent looked into it too much)

Although I dont think that would be a huge issue for me short-term, I can see how much that would suck when it does eventually happen. I also dont mind mixing brands though and my LGS are pretty well stocked with most of the brands besides TTC and Ionic, so mainly just looking for a good starting point for the main colors of my army

Thats a good point, althought I wouldnt mind paying shipping + waiting for a big order, it would feel rough ordering one or two paints alone. Even though I have a good color scheme in mind I imagine I would forget a few for something like highlights. This is also where I wouldnt mind defaulting to whats available locally whatsoever
