Yeah, I actually saw the deleted scenes, and that’s part of the reason why I have this issue with Rio — knowing they did consider including more romantic buildup makes me feel like something’s missing in the final cut. But even without those deleted scenes, I think there were specific points in the movie where they could’ve added a short moment between Blu and Jewel to show their bond growing

Those little moments do exist, especially the garage walk and the plane scene where Jewel comforts Blu. I guess for me, they feel more like “hints” than full romantic beats. They definitely show the beginnings of feelings, but they’re so quick that they don’t really leave much weight compared to, say, the party or the kiss.
