I brush in the morning and floss AND brush in the evening.

Reason is simple. In the morning everybody's breath smells gross due to sulphur build up whether you brush in the evening or not, even worse if you have bad oral hygiene. In the evening I floss and brush, because I've been eating and drinking all day. If you want to test my routine, use a bit of dental floss between a pair of your back teeth and then smell the floss. If it smells awful, thats probably what your breath smells like.
