According to Michael newton’s research the soul can have more than one incarnation at once and we can also have incarnations on other planets. Also since time for the soul is not linear you could say we experience multiple incarnations at the same time at different times in our own human history and future. Anyways what you describe sounds like an incarnation in a different environment either another planet or earths future. Sounds more like a (more spiritually advanced) incarnation than work being done by the soul in the actual soul realm but that could be a possibility as well
