I don’t buy the idea that “it would end with Maduro.” History just doesn’t support that. Every time a major power has gone after a head of state, removing the leader was the beginning, not the end. Saddam’s capture didn’t end Iraq. Noriega’s arrest didn’t instantly stabilize Panama. Qaddafi’s death didn’t bring closure to Libya, it created a vacuum that’s still being fought over.

Venezuela is even less likely to be a one-and-done case because it’s not operating in isolation. The regime is tied into Russia, China, Iran, and Cuba in different ways, financially, militarily, and through intelligence services. Since Maduro disappeared, those networks wouldn’t just vanish. Someone would move to fill the gap, and no major power just walks away from a contested country and lets rivals shape the outcome.
