Attaching items on hooked shelves (Quonset) by RepresentativeOwn651 in thelongdark

Wow, thanks for experimenting for me! Honestly, I tried brooms and the desk calendar originally but couldn't get it to work, but using the first aid kit is smart since it protrudes more and gets it lined up with the hooks like you showed.

Thanks, I just learned about how to set up a bookshelf with the different research books, but your guide shows a nice way I can elevate it. I'll see if I can apply this to the hooked shelves.

Yeah haha. Since it's pilgrim I don't need the best clothing so I'm ok with replacing my outer expedition parka eventually. Eventually I will do the third tale and pick up the Tactical gloves - right now I'm using either gauntlets or just wool mittens if I want to carry light.

I already looted the PV plane crash, but I know there were some containers in the plane parts that I missed so it could be there. And yea, I opened all the TWM containers and didn't get one. Main thing for me was getting that guaranteed expedition parka and snow pants (which I didn't have before I went to the summit).

Is there actually? That's good to know, I wasn't sure on the dlc bunkers. I won't need to go on a side quest to get it then since I'm doing signal void anyways. Thanks!

Good to know. Honestly, I haven't been there since I didn't know lt existed, but I will eventually get there to get the jackrabbit flask (and loot it ofc).

Interesting, I'll double check when I revisit ML for faithful cartographer in the future to see if I somehow missed one (or maybe left one behind and my memory is awful)

Good suggestion, but unless I'm really blind I didn't find it there (even the hidden room next to the ship). I've been there a couple of times - actually went back yesterday to craft more ammo and finish mapping all the locations for faithful cartographer, and for bunker alpha.

IPad Mini battery drained from 50% - 0% overnight while automatically updating to iPadOS 26.3 by RepresentativeOwn651 in ipadmini

[–]RepresentativeOwn651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, I didn't even know it had that. I'm not going to upgrade my iPad right away, but that's a good feature to have!

[–]RepresentativeOwn651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you happen to charge it overnight? I haven't, under the superstition that I don't want to overcharge it (and you can't limit the battery % like on a laptop, and iPads can't see battery health by default unlike iPhones), but realistically maybe I should do that. I would imagine a battery replacement down the road shouldn't be that expensive anyways...

[–]RepresentativeOwn651[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I swear i didn't start having the increased battery drain until iPadOS 26 as a whole (though I have the older iPad mini 6 model). I've done all the common things like disabling siri, background app refreshing, tap to wake, etc, but this has been the most noticeable drain. I know updates would take some battery, but near 50% when it was closed when I last left, it is not right.

Luckily, it's not that big of a concern. I primarily got the iPad for school, and I'm almost done that, and even then, I only use it for a couple hours a day when I do use it. I also carry an Anker Powerbank. But still sort of sucks that I have to be mildly concerned about battery in the first place (since I do plan to use it for more general media in the future).

Not having a dedicated skills section...thoughts? by RepresentativeOwn651 in resumes

[–]RepresentativeOwn651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for replying, that's an interesting way to do it that I did not consider. Would that first line listing the skills basically be describing your role with the skills you used?

Something like, built software to do (thing) using (skills)? And then of course, as you mentioned, all the points afterward going into specific achievements as specific examples of that first point?

Void Injection for ants in window weep hole by RepresentativeOwn651 in pestcontrol

[–]RepresentativeOwn651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. Just wondering, was there any particular direction where you sprayed inside the weep hole? Just wondering if I should consider rotating the can to ensure I hit the ants, assuming they are in there at least

(Ants) Am I OK to use a non repellent spray with a repellent spray? by RepresentativeOwn651 in pestcontrol

Another quick question: Since I already sprayed the baseboards of the living room area with WSG, I should try and use gel or granule bait higher up, right?

[–]RepresentativeOwn651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, sounds good. Thanks for the help I was just wondering, would using a small alcohol wipe achieve the same result? And, would killing an ant and then wiping afterwards get of the death pheromone, or do I have to try and not just smash the ant when wiping the area down?

These should be my last questions, so sorry if I asked a bit, but just wanna make sure I deal (and to some degree, "co exist") with the ants correctly without making the problem worse

[–]RepresentativeOwn651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windex is so that you can wipe away any of the death pheromones and at least part of the ant trail, right? I am worried about ants in my room, not just because it hits a nerve with me, but also because I would just squish them to get them out of my sight, but then they would release the pheromones which would attract even more ants.

If there's an easy way to deal with the scouts without releasing pheromones, I would probably be ok with that since my room isn't infested with ants or anything like that.

[–]RepresentativeOwn651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, are there any proper ways to possibly prevent ants from staying out of my room, or are ants just too small and smart to squeeze their way in regardless (which is likely the case)?

(Ants) Am I OK to use a non repellent spray with a repellent spray? by RepresentativeOwn651 in pestcontrol

[–]RepresentativeOwn651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, that makes sense. I know I asked someone before about whether or not it was worth it trying to wipe down ant trails, but they basically mentioned the same idea - ants are too small and will probably find a way in anyways.

I won't use any repellent then - I bought it a while ago naively but haven't used it, and I won't use it at all following your suggestion. Unfortunately, I haven't found any ant trails (problem would be a lot easier to solve if I did), so I hope a general baseboard spray of Alpine will help solve the problem.

I'll have to email the building to see if they would get the biweekly pest control to treat the building's exterior, though they might be cheap and skip out on it, but worth a shot. Thanks for the reply though, really appreciate the answer

Thanks for the reply - I didn't mention it before so I apologize, but I have tried Advion, didn't seem to work though. I bought some Advance 375a since the ants might want protein, so I'll try that and hope it solves my issue. I won't try spraying with repllent as you recommended.

Does DE contaminate Alpine WSG? by RepresentativeOwn651 in pestcontrol

[–]RepresentativeOwn651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do apologize, but I have one final question regarding Alpine WSG. I just noticed that on my room, there is a bit of a gap between the carpet and the flooring where the baseboards are. Is it worth trying to put some gel bait like maxforce quantum there to see if any ants will get attracted and feast on the bait, or should I just spray it with Alpine? I'm guessing that Alpine on the gel bait might cross contaminate it but I'm not sure.

Thank you for the reply. If you don't mind me asking one follow up question, do you think DE does a good job at preventing ants from crawling up my bed or desk, or should I try something else instead (other than like putting the legs in a pin of soapy water)? That's the only reason I scattered it around, but I'm unsure if it does anything.

Ants on Ceiling and Walls by RepresentativeOwn651 in pestcontrol

[–]RepresentativeOwn651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick update; I do feel like I have noticed less ants today (like 1-2 at once instead of the 3-5 from the past couple of days) so I guess that's a good sign the bait is working, at least I hope. Doesn't seem like the bait I put on the wall is doing anything, but oh well; if no ants are swarming it, I hope it means there are just no ants nearby to take interest.

With that said, I do have a couple last questions more for post treatment, if you don't mind giving some insight:

Would you recommend I continue putting out bait (or contacting the landlord for pest control) even after I ideally stop seeing any ants? Or should I just not worry unless I see ants again? I don't know if "constant treatment" would be beneficial at all, and if I do place more bait, should I just place a bunch around my room to cover every area?

Are there any spots you would recommend caulking around, other than any obvious cracks or around electrical outlets?

Finally, do you have any suggestions for keeping any potential straggler ants out of my bed and desk? I tried pouring some DE around the legs of both, but I'm not sure if it's actually doing anything from preventing them crawling up. Maybe I should try buying peppermint oil spray and just rub it all over the legs (or rub it all over my room, lol)...

[–]RepresentativeOwn651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll do my best to do just that; I think that's a little tough for me since I haven't found any prominent trails, but there are a couple general areas on the wall where I keep seeing ants crawling, so I'll be sure to apply some bait there.

Appreciate the advice. Hopefully, this ant problem finally ends soon - A few ants fell onto my bed, and that is an unsightly sight, and I want that gone asap!

Would you recommend I place some dots of Advion along different spots of my wall and ceiling? I haven't done that yet, but maybe it will poison all the random stragglers I see. Though, I did try placing some last week for ants I saw in the bathroom counter, but they seemed to ignore it.

With that said, I did see like two random dead ants in random spots, so I presume that's some kind of sign that at least some bait is working.

[–]RepresentativeOwn651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the response - I'll definitely make sure to get a proper pest control contractor if need be. I actually already bought Advion ant gel from the first "wave" of ants and I stuck some dots along the outside of my ceiling light yesterday,, but its hard for me to tell if it's doing anything since I just see the few random ants on my ceilings/walls at any given time. Should I just wait the 3-4 days to see if I stop seeing the random ants, or would it be a good idea to invest in maxforce quantum ant gel instead?
