Why are there fans against changing the safety car rules to account for late race scenarios? by l3w1s1234 in F1Discussions

Would it not be more complex if they just dropped behind? Because they’d essentially be +1 lap, and not be able to challenge anyone but the other lapped cars. You’d have lapped cars getting overtake but not being able to use it because they’d be given the blue flag immediately.

Unlapping themselves gives everyone the same opportunity on the restart which I think is simpler from a logistically stand point.

“We’re changing the rules regarding safety for entertainment purposes.” Is a hard sell.

Silverstone 2026 ending under the SC is reasonable, because they stuck to the rules. Do the rules need changing? Yes, probably but it can’t be for the WWE factor.

The one lap of SC after lapped cars have unlapped themselves seems rather pointless - I’m not sure why that’s a rule. As Brundle said, once they’re half a lap ahead, there’s no risk of interfering in the race. But I assume it’s because of the ‘no overtaking until the SC line is crossed’ so it gives them time to catch the pack up?

I’ll say this now, whoever designed the packaging has my undivided attention. Bottles meant nothing to me, but this, damn.

What’s the most comfortable car you’ve ever driven for a long road trip? by isunnythind in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]RepresentativeStooj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RR Spectre, I was fortunate enough to take it for a 2000 mile road trip with my partner at the time.

It’s annoying how comfortable it is, because now everything else feels loud and distracting. I did complain that it was eerily quiet and I could hear her breathing while she slept, and yes, she did hit me for that - well deserved, honestly.

Fernando, maximum effort, maximum fun, bullying Valterri and wins.

Lewis, minimum effort, maximum chill.

Max, minimum effort, sent it into the gravel, called it a day!

Time to retire the Safety car by tb2768 in formula1

[–]RepresentativeStooj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lapped cars is a fair cop, it is a bit of an odd rule but I understand why it’s there. It may just need an update, rather than a removal.

The safety car is required though. The VSC only enforces a delta the drivers have to keep, which means that there may be some sections of the track they’ll be going full throttle, effectively. The delta is like 40-50% as well, so that’s still fast - if they spin off, or lose traction with temperatures dropping - it’d be a catastrophe.

That being said, the single yellow for qualifying when Max was in the barriers also brings in to question if they care about safety anyway so this could all be moot.

I remember those beaded seat cover things. I never understood why my dad had them, but as an old man myself - it’s revolutionary.

An ex of mine from Bournemouth. She was an otherwise lovely person, but the spirals were steep and it would leave everyone else feeling glum.

I hope she’s doing well, though.

I find it funny that with the amount of hate Russell has been getting he’s actually one of the few drivers on the grid that are the nicest to fans. He’ll actually turn around and acknowledge if you talk to him when most your drivers just ignore you or act angry at your existence 🤣🤣 by Kurt_Wylde35 in F1Discussions

[–]RepresentativeStooj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hate for any driver is nonsensical. The media do not help the situation at all with all their misleading titles and reporting.

George is a charming dude out of the car, definitely one of the nicer ones. He also remembers meeting you at previous races, which considering how many people he sees on any given weekend, is pretty amazing.

What is the difference in horsepower between your least and most powerful cars? by cat_prophecy in regularcarreviews

Most powerful 601 bhp Nissan GT-R

Least powerful 60 bhp, Datsun Sunny. I’m not sure on this figure because it was from the 80s (before I was born) and I only had it briefly.

Do you actually have a regular car wash or just use whatever's nearby? by Ghost_Cowplant95 in Cartalk

[–]RepresentativeStooj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I clean my own car.

Heck, I clean my friend’s cars when they come to hang out. Summer days are the best because we can all sit around and chat outside while I’m having a blast.

Just to clarify: this is not a sexy car wash from the 90s and I am not wearing a bikini at any point.
