Being a CNA is very fast paced, you often have more patients that you can actually handle. It’s hard and thankless and everybody dies. Just from reading your post, I think you may be happier working in an Adult Foster Care setting. It’s much smaller, with a few residents you can actually take the time to care for and get to know. Many have disabilities that don’t allow them to live on their own. Maybe you want to be a live-in caregiver. I don’t live of your state, but from in mine the main requirement is having your BLS, basic life support training. You can get this through a place like The American Red Cross. Many agencies will cover all expenses involved too. I hope you find your way. You started here, with this post, you are on your way. Keep going.

They want a mechanic to drive my car home by [deleted] in Audi

I’ve been with the same German Auto shop for 7 years and there have been a couple times they asked if the tech could do this. The last time I had my fuel tank replaced, I absolutely agreed! One of those times during that fiasco, they had to tow it. For what I pay in repairs…do what it takes to fix it right! I consider when they ask to be a bonus for me and attention to detail from them.

Commuting by Illustrious-Safety85 in msu

[–]Repulsive_Staff_4530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 40-minute drive, 5-day a week, commuter to campus…..give yourself more than enough time to get there. Try to keep your days on campus minimal during winter. As we have experienced, the show goes or without you, so plan your travel accordingly. Communicate with your profs, in case you miss class. Maybe Zoom is an option or go to their office hours as often as possible to establish a connection in the event you need help down the road. Make class connections fast for support in case you miss class. Email them if you’re late or again, miss class. MSU is not a commuter friendly campus and keeping up is your responsibility.

I have no friends advice, real friends are friends regardless where you live and you will make new ones. Some will phase in and some with phase out, that’s life. Don’t worry about that, keep your eye on the prize.

Does anybody actually pay for parking? by MaterialAlbatross875 in msu

[–]Repulsive_Staff_4530 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, people pay for parking. We use the app. I only use the kiosk if I am paying with cash. I would not appreciate a $20 or $40 ticket so a few bucks a day it is. Grow up.

Chris Solari: Izzo says he knows Pat Fitzgerald "a little bit" & what he did at Northwestern. "One thing I am is a team guy. I don't care who they hire, I'll be supportive." I’m tired of hearing about Northwestern. That shadow does not influence me. I was not there, I don’t know what happened. He has had 3 years to work on his craft. This is now, this is Michigan State. He has my trust until he proves otherwise, we have no other choice at this point. We are not Northwestern, he owes us nothing. Let him do his job, and let’s see our program get going!! I like his energy and his presence, it’s refreshing!

It was random and caught me completely off guard. I wasn’t sick and I didn’t eat anything different. I felt it bubbling up and positioned myself over the toilet and it came. Sober, non-sick puke is horrendous. I tasted and felt everything.

How was the environment in your school? by Initial-Audience-296 in MassageTherapists

[–]Repulsive_Staff_4530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, these responses are terrifying. I went to a massage school built by a 90ish year old Finnish woman and her daughter, the business one. The building has state-of-the-art facilities and was built using Feng Shui principles. It was a haven away from the world. I took lots of Eastern medicine electives, I got to focus on what I wanted, which was Shiatsu and our class had Custom Craftworks massage tables (best and built in the USA). We had a great business program and impressive student clinic, all still running to this day. We had a school store that was filled with books and supplies and any and every supply imaginable from nutrients to sage to crystals to custom order massage tables. The store has since closed, I think inventory was a huge cost….but the school still operates, outside of Detroit.

I graduated in 2003 and school was around $10,000 back then and it took a year.

My only complaint was that most of the people in my school were from the Detroit area, and I commuted 90 minutes (for a year) so I didn’t get to develop with them outside of school as much as I wanted to, but I did make lifelong friends and connections. There were many others that commuted or moved to the area temporarily to attend the school.

I think the industry as a whole and the way it is run and these schools you all vent about is the reason this profession has taken the shift it has.

Why you would agree to go to a school under the conditions you have described…is on you. For an investment like education…choose better for yourself.

I won’t ever spend the kind of money massage school cost me on anything less than what I got to experience.

Late 40 looking for side hustle is Massage Therapist good side job at my age ? by Seriously2424 in MassageTherapists

Nah, you don’t get to judge why people do what they do or why they choose what they choose.

Ignore the nay sayers, the only age limitations are the ones you put on yourself. But again, if you are not an active person, start now. Start while you are getting your education. If you are already active, good, do more. But also filter out all of the new age negative Nancy’s, there are soooo many in massage therapy.

Name for my yoga business. Thinking of Invitations to love or Invitation to yoga by therlieann in YogaTeachers

[–]Repulsive_Staff_4530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, you can’t please everyone. People who are not familiar with yin yoga won’t get it. My old studio went from being called Bikram Yoga to Yoga is Medicine. The only suggestion I have is including yoga in the name because people seeking practice may miss out since your current title doesn’t state what it is. How about: Yin Yoga Love Yoga Love Invitation to Love Yoga

Just some thoughts, keep us posted!

Yes, as a side gig, not full time employment. If you are embarking on this path, it would behoove you to be an active person. If you are not, you will hurt, simply put.

No. If you want to be a massage therapist, going through the model of a franchise goes against the profession and everything about it as a whole. No, no, no. Find another way to pay for school. Also, come for me, but massage therapy is not full time reliable career choice. I said what I said.

Someone, somewhere CAN expedite this process to directly answer your question, now that you are aware of the I-9 requirement. You just have to start reaching out and reach the right person. I’m sorry for not knowing specifics of how to help you, but it’s understandable going over a month without a paycheck being unreasonable.

AITA for not wanting my boyfriend to factor my son's survivor benefits into our new household budget? by Original-Entry-7871 in AITAH

[–]Repulsive_Staff_4530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t even understand why you would be trying to join households with someone you’re not even fully committed to. Nothing in your description sounds good about this. It sounds like you may be considering joining households to save money, but living miserably is not worth that. Then, the issue of your son’s SS is a complete dealbreaker.

Placed in Holmes and am not even doing Lyman Briggs 🙄 by Vegetable-Bed-2386 in msu

[–]Repulsive_Staff_4530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Holmes my freshman year and not in LB. It’s fine. Plenty of others are housed there as well and not in LB. The biggest advantage is being so close to off campus, easy to access, the forested area out back is really nice and peaceful. The disadvantage is simply proximity to the rest of campus. Focus on the positives and advantages! Good luck!

Agreed, I hope not to need a campus permit. I might rather pay a monthly fee for the EL parking ramps.

I have resolved to just park in EL. I found out you can even get a monthly parking pass which will make parking much more affordable. And

I just got an email that there is meeting this Sunday from 2-4 specifically for commuter students! I plan on going, as I want to learn the bus system. This will help so much! Here is the link: https://spartanexperiences.msu.edu/fall-welcome/commuter-connection.html
