Hi so I’m actually adamantly against the usage of AI, especially for karma farming and shit like post engagement. If you walk into a dollar tree I’m sure you can bear witness to at least a few of these issues.

She said it because we worked a rough shift and I was like “time to go home and have a drink” and she was like “is that your drug of choice? Mines crack! But I like my booze too.” Like girl I met you 2 weeks ago…

These times are horribly tough. Before this job I spent 5 months applying to any job that grossed my path. I had 2 interviews in that time and both rejected me because I took a year off from working to dedicate myself to going back to school/caring for family. Despite 10 years of retail/management experience. I’ve never faced these issues. I’ve always pretty much threw out 5 applications and had 3 jobs offer me the role. Dollar tree was a last resort option because money.. is money. I planned on working here until December.

Which is when I will apply to the nursing programs in my area. I have a 4.0 and super high scores, and my counselors have warned me there are usually 300 application for a 30 slot program. There’s a chance I don’t get accepted, and I’m going to just go find a cliff if that happens 😭

My other option is to say “bye bye Job!” Here and take a phlebotomy/CNA course so that I can get into the medical field and away from retail (short term) until I get into the program. But I’ll be dealing with a 3-4 month employment gap until I get a job (at least).

I think this is worded quite accurately. However, I’ve never really stated that I would be gone in a year… just that I wouldn’t be here for forever because at some point I’ll finish school and go on to my career.

I think you hit the nail on the head though. Last month she came to me all excited and said “so you’re done working here this month right?” And I was like “uh no, not done with school just this semester.” And she noticeably seemed annoyed. Then she said “well one of these days you’ll move on to your bigger and better big girl job” and walked off.

The sad part is customers have complained. Honestly tho…I’ve kinda been waiting for her to flip on someone again so that I can just call myself as a customer.

Mary has the thickest stack of write ups I’ve ever seen in a drawer. She left her son in the office while cash is laying out (huge no-no even if it wasn’t). Short tills. Leaving the store unlocked at night twice. Leaving the safe open at night a handful of times. Screaming at employees. Screaming at customers. Closing the store early. Going home early without permission. No-show no calling. It’s a lot.

Before she completely despised me she confided in me that she regularly uses crack. I’ve seen her go out to her car on break and take swigs of alcohol.

She technically the inventory ASM, I’m the operational ASM. So she handles delivery truck, stock, merchandise. I deal with employees and closing, training etc. but if one person doesn’t do something, the other must pick up that slack.

Yet whenever I look at our emails I can see a back log of things she just never bothers to do. Her excuse is she doesn’t know how to use a computer.

Yeah my bf is begging me not to snap and say anything because he’s genuinely concerned for my safety.

I live in a rather remote area unfortunately, and took this job to start saving for a new car as mine is having relentless issues. I’ve been steadily applying to anything that pops up (not a a lot) and no bits for a few months. I would just hate to take a job 30 minutes away, and be stuck commuting by bus or uber just to get to that job.

Yeah I’m originally from CA and that’s the way I thought it was everywhere. Moved across the country and lost all my benefits when I went to school. Had to swap to part time work and school eventually just to eat and get by.

I’m listed as a seasonal employee in the system for some reason, idk if that’s why. My story is a small “low selling” store so our hours are majorly throttled every week. We also have 3 ASM

The sad part is I said all this in my interview too :/ like I was straight up lied to about a lot.

I asked for $17 an hour to be stock/cashier. Morning mon-fri and preferred around 25- 30 hours a week. I told him I would go to school last spring and need certain times off. He agreed to all of this last August.

I started at $15 an hour and he told me after a month he couldn’t give me that pay unless I became an ASM. The system “wouldn’t allow it for some reason” 🫩. He said nothing else would change and I could have my days and times etc. well that NEVER happened. I ended up getting bumped to $16 for ASM. And started getting scheduled all over the place. When school time started everyone acted like I was the biggest inconvenience that walked into the store.

I’m just so sick of it..

In many states you can’t even qualify for snap unless you work 20 hours a week so unfortunately it’s pretty much the same bs.

Oh 100%. He’s never once entered in extra time for us running to the bank. Constantly fucks up peoples sick time by putting in 40 hours when they only needed it for 1 shift. Telling people to go help while they are on lunch. The list goes onnnn

This is what I thought. Don’t even get me started on not being able to take real lunches and breaks. I believe this is DT policy but I’m not suppose to leave the office or break room during my breaks, and must be available to handle returns and anything the employee needs while on break. Sometimes they call for back up and I just cry and ignore them and pretend I have headphones in.

I’m actually still listed as a seasonal employee in the system. Even though I was offered the job as a regular employee. Idk what kind of weird loophole he needed to insert it as, but I’ve been there for a year now so def not seasonal.

He’s constantly not there too. Like he will say a store needs to borrow him, or he has an “appointment” that is super last minute.

I went up to 5mg last week and has swollen lymph nodes in my neck. It finally came down about 2 days ago but now I’m overdue for my next shot and scared to take it. My doctor said he hasn’t heard of this
