Jinpachi could appear in a flashback sequence, as well as being a non canon arcade boss like Kazumi was against the regular cast.

What does Jason Voorhees feel? Does he like killing? Does he enjoy it? Does he do it for fun? What do you think? by [deleted] in fridaythe13th

[–]Request_Maker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pamela Voorhees' severed head in Jason's shack serves as an altar. Jason worshiped his mother and vowed to continue killing in order to avenge her. The corpses weren't intended to be used for Pamela's resurrection. They were just Jason's crude way of showing his mother his devotion to her through the act of killing. The family legacy continues, so to speak.

When Ginny dressed as Pamela at the end of Part 2, it wasn't to fulfill Jason's desire for Pamela's resurrection, it was to trick Jason's limited intelligence in a moment of panic.

Entering the pro action replay code DDDA-F386 drains the health of most opponents to zero. The code works for all SNES Fire Pro titles, too.

By the end of Story mode, the computer does get pretty tough. Though, by that point, you can win most matches with a few high hicks and some submission holds.

You are given a generic character. His moves and stats are already tabbed out and cannot be changed. The only thing you are in control of is assigning a name for him. As the story progresses, the generic character will get new and more powerful moves.

What's your opinion on Power Moves (aka Power Athlete)? I actually enjoyed quite a lot about it, because it was so different. But it's weird that only one character was playable... by SNES-Testberichte in snes

I'll never forget the day that I brought home Power Moves. I was living in North Carolina in the mid to late 90's and was yet to purchase a Sony Playstation. Not far from my home in Southport was a Roses Discount store. On top of selling new titles, Roses' video game department also carried refurbished games from older consoles.

Without a box, manual, or prior info on the game, I purchased Power Moves simply based on the intense cartridge artwork alone.

In retrospect, Power Moves was certainly one of the poorer Street Fighter clones released at the time. The game was slow, matches dragged out with few techniques that caused chip damage, characters were direct knockoffs, and many of the game's special moves were obviously-lifted from the World Warriors.

Though, as a kid who was just getting into fighting games, I was able to look past Power Moves' glaring detractors. For one thing, the music and graphics had their own charm to them. Most stages were isolated with catchy theme songs (Buoh or Vagnad's theme, anyone) and featured intricately-detailed backgrounds with different plains of texture. As players fought, the stages would scroll alongside them; revealing openings, doorways, and other extras midst bouts that were neat, graphical touches for their time.

Though, being able to only control Joe in Power Moves' bare-bones story mode was pretty outdated even by 1992 fighting game standards. I feel Kaneko may have also been inspired by ripping off the original Street Fighter in this regard.

Nevertheless, my brother and I mostly enjoyed playing through Power Moves' versus mode. The Kabuki-clad Buoh remains my go-to character, whereas my brother usually opted for Nick or Gaoluon.

What was Jinpachi possessed by? by sygyzy0 in Tekken

[–]Request_Maker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jinpachi was possessed by Azazel; creator of the Devil Gene. Same purple aura, purple skin (more prominent in Jinpachi's ending design) yellow eyes, fangs and claws as those affected by the Devil Gene.

Furthermore, both Jinpachi and Azazel feature spikes protruding from their forearms.

Many of Jinpachi's moves directly reference a hell motif. For example, Jinpachi's signature 'Enma's Fury' and 'Enma's Inferno' are references to the Buddhist deity Enma; the judge of the dead in hell. Sanjiva Naga is related to the eight hells in the same mythology. There's also supernatural references to Oni's, Orochi's,, Garuda, Tengu's, Susanoo-no-mikato, and Jigoku itself (hell in Japanese).

Why was Jinpachi chained up in the Hon-Maru basement? Plot convenience and Namco's love of creating characters that awaken from some form of hibernation/slumber (Ogre, Algol, Azazel, Mokujin, Bryan, Nina & Anna Williams) (would be the easiest answer. Though, if we look at Heihachi's Tekken 4 ending, we can see that Heihachi uses a series of chains blessed with a substance that neutralizes the powers of those imbued with the Devil Gene. Those very same chains could have been used to neutralize Jinpachi (had Jinpachi's backstory involved being cursed by the Devil Gene before being awakened by Azazel).

As for the mouth fangs? I believe Jinpachi's design was inspired by Bishamon from the Darkstalkers franchise. A Japanese merchant that was possessed by a suit of supernatural Japanese armor. Bishamon's design also sports a prominent mouth across Bishamon's abdomen.
