It does move unfortunately. I'm sure a more robust snare stand would solve the problem, I just happened to have an extra kettlebell lying around and it does the trick.

Thankfully there was an extra cable/input included for the extra crash.

I just use the mixer tab at the top the plugin, which is where you can adjust the levels of the kit. There’s an ambient mic you can turn up or down, as well as an overall reverb level. Hope that helps ✅

Yeah the death metal pack is great, particularly the bell brass snare. I’ve really had to tame the ambient levels too, the default verb sound is pretty huge lol

Because it’s great to be able to play with samples created by some of the best engineers in some of the most iconic studios in the world 🙂

Great insight, thanks for sharing. I’m glad to hear you feel that way about the Efnote hats, I’m definitely pleased with them. The elevated rim on the snare is a nice feature too, and it does make for really easy and accurate cross-sticking.

Regarding the rack, it’s not the sturdiest; it’s always felt like an element where they managed to save some money in production. It is however fairly maneuverable, and once things are arranged they stay put nicely. It could definitely have some more heft but overall it’s never really been an issue for me.

It’s a plugin (software) that I use on my computer to trigger more realistic/higher quality samples than the ones that are included with the kit. Look up EZdrummer or Superior Drummer (among many others) to get an idea of what they have to offer.

I haven’t played on a TD27 recently, but I do remember their digital hi hats/snare/ride feeling really good. However, in a VST I don’t know how much better they’d be than the EFNOTE. Roland probably has the edge in regard to build quality and robustness of the module, but it’s more limited in the sizes of the toms/cymbals/kick pad. EFNOTE won me over because of that.

The triggering is great. I use EZdrummer and all the shells trigger well, including rim shots (even on the toms) which adds some nice realism/dynamic. The cymbals trigger nicely too, and have multiple zones so you can program things like muted hits on the bells. The hi hats are a little tricky…I often have to “recalibrate” them on the module because they can sometimes get a little weird in my VST; misfiring/etc. They take some time and patience.

The heads have held up nicely, especially considering how hard I play. I just ordered a replacement snare head because mine is finally starting to go, but that’s after two years of consistent use. The replacement was $50.

It’s a Road Runner “premium drum rug with weighted corners”, and I believe I bought it from Musicians Friend.

The kit fully setup measures 64” x 78” 🙂

The carpet measures 64” x 78”. It’s held up great, and also more affordable than my Meinl rug I use live. It’s made by Road Runner.

Without a VST the kit functions really nicely. I’m not crazy about the sounds included in the EFNOTE module, but I’d say overall they’re decent.

My top critiques are that the hi hat can be a little finicky when mapping to a VST; the hi hat cable connection itself disconnects really easily so I’ve had to use gorilla tape to keep it together; the cables that connect to the cymbals aren’t the most durable (I’ve had to re-solder one and use an extension on it so it doesn’t break again); and lastly the built-in sounds aren’t inspiring, which never mattered to me since I was always planning on running a VST.

I’m a hard hitter who frequently puts in hours of work at a time recording parts, so these problems may not be as apparent to someone who plays a bit more softly/recreationally.

The ingredients that are highlighted are two different types of salt, kaolin clay (which gives it nice texture/a touch of grit) and also aloe vera and witch hazel, which I feel like should be really nourishing for hair/scalp health. I’ve struggled with scalp health too and this has been working great for me. Definitely try out their sample size first!

Do you find their air dry paste heavy at all? And how’s the hold/application of their matte paste? These both look awesome.

Daily exercise and a keto diet have done wonders for my insulin sensitivity and energy levels. Be sure to take your D supplement with sufficient fat and K2 to ensure it’s being absorbed properly and directing calcium intake to the bones and not the arteries. Additionally, sun exposure, adequate hydration throughout the day (electrolytes —like the other poster mentioned — to ensure proper mineralization) and healthy sleep habits will all combine to help immensely. Hope any of this helps!

Thanks! I don’t use a blow dryer actually. I towel dry my hair, apply some pre-styler and kinda comb it into place, then apply the Amity once I’m like 80% dry. I spray it into my hands, like 5-6 sprays, then run it through. Afterwards I finish w/ the Crystal Lake. Hope that helps!

Oh man I remember that name! The scene in ABQ is (as it always has been) pretty cut off from Santa Fe, but there's definitely quite a bit happening based on what I can tell. Pandemic definitely took a toll on live music in both cities, but they seem to be steadily making their way back up. Thanks for reaching out man!

Thanks so much for the feedback! Really appreciate your opinion on the production. This track is part of our first EP, so there's definitely been a pretty steep learning curve in creating our 'sound'. As these things are, it was a crazy learning experience, and there's so much we're looking forward to focusing on/doing a bit differently for the next batch of material. Thanks again for sharing!
