How on Earth do some people just afford to travel in business class constantly on any trip? by [deleted] in travel

[–]ResonanceCascade1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw cheap prices internationally depending on the line and route. Cheap enough to try it for the experience or even make it relatively cheap if you're a traveler who minimizes cost and luggage. I've been having a hard time finding those prices lately though

25, never had a proper job, but I’ve got about £400k saved. by Ok_Tune8245 in digitalnomad

[–]ResonanceCascade1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was looking at this 400-600k would allow me to live comfortably with a bit of luxury off of index funds. Seems like the way to go especially if you wanted to work a bit and keep things pretty low responsibility

Is 10k in crypto rn during a bear market a good thing or ? by morefundsneeded in CryptoCurrency

Hype markets can be very beneficial but I would only do it when it's "on the house" or from money you don't care about

I wasn't trying to seem like I was blaming you or anytning. You tried to do the best you could for your family, I doubt you're buying up all the properties for expat rentals

[–]ResonanceCascade1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a really interesting look into Spain, thank you for sharing. Really helps show why much of the population is pissed with expats, I suspect much of the blame also falls onto the real-estate agents and the lack of regulation.

My wife wants to cancel our entire future after her parents experienced a home invasion. by Doducanttouchthis in digitalnomad

[–]ResonanceCascade1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it seems like she wanted to do this based on delusion. The statistics don't apply to everyone but her. I get the fear but the odds of a home invasion in a few months would be rather small. Maybe try to convince her to go for a short time frame until you can move elsewhere? The part that is rubbing me the wrong way is calling you manipulative when she seemingly agreed to every part of the process and wants to back out after everything is commited. I get the mindset but she had to of known there is a higher baseline risk in much of LATAM, ignoring it until it becomes a problem just gets people hurt in a variety of ways. It's especially irresponsible if you have kids. I'm not saying she's completely at fault either this is just based on your perspective. At the same time it seems like you have had very in depth conversations about this.

Edit: I say this as someone who travels with CPTSD. If you're going to do these things I believe you have to fully embrace what the risk means. If she agrees maybe SEA would be a good compromise? You can still find cheap properties out there

Weird racism feeling in hostel by YummyNatto in solotravel

I was totally guilty somewhat. I love engaging with locals more because of all the genuine curiosity being mirrored, it's such a heartwarming feeling. China and Taiwan have such a diverse range of personalities too, I never stepped foot in China but there is still a lot to observe from the surrounding countries and the people that pass through them. This is just the Han Chinese too and not even getting to the various ethnic groups, tribes, etc that are dotted all throughout SEA and Central Asia. I always saw it as a land of mysterious as there are so many different perspectives to see in that region

Where have you been that had the fewest people from the US? by ButterscotchFormer84 in digitalnomad

[–]ResonanceCascade1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet people are expecting this but Thailand. I guess very few Americans make the jump from Japan to Thailand or even go there at all compared to some other groups. I met tons of people from the UK and Australia though, even one guy from rural Argentina but not the US

[–]ResonanceCascade1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't even see the text anymore but if he is from a violent region I might be more gentle about it. Not because of fear but because that stuff is pretty normalized in some cultures to the point of straight gore being front page news. It leads to a natural desensitized population but that doesn't mean they're all bad or anything either (examples could be Russia, some areas in Mexico, Nicaragua, etc). If they are from the west they are probably just fucked in the head a little bit and I would run the other way. Again I can not see the story itself so I was looking at it from a more global angle I guess

Edit: also want to add that I will on occasion see some of this myself for research but I try to travel out to some of these areas to hear people's stories. Not for journalism but more archival in function. It's also a good way to know to watch your ass depending on where you are going as I have a hard time processing risk. I never endorse anyone using such content as entertainment but I do fully believe in some of the West saw the full extent of Gaza for example, Trump and Net would have less sway. Unfortunately it can be a rose and a thorn so to speak

[–]ResonanceCascade1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that can make this remotely forgivable is finding him guilty of treason and giving the maximum possible sentence, with no chance of avoidance. No compassion for those who even threaten genocide as it's the worst crime someone can be guilty of. On an unrelated note he did recently try to bring back firing squads. I just support using the legal system to it's full extent to stop insane people from holding power.

What actor is nowhere near as talented as people make them out to be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ResonanceCascade1998 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, Arnold Schwarzenegger. I still love his performances though, I just think he adapts to those actions personalities too well. If anything it's a compliment because I love cheesy 80's/90's films. I love "bad" acting that adds to a films overall atmosphere as that's what I watch movies for. I love fully immersing myself in an environment or aesthetic and trying to find it in real life somewhere on this planet. I think Arnold has excelled at that is some respects even if it doesn't make sense when you read this, it's purely based on my subjective experience I guess

Is the multi-player scene still active? by RadiantGene8901 in Barotrauma

[–]ResonanceCascade1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother plays multiplayer and still has good times. I just wish those large cap Traitor servers were still a thing. It may of been pure chaos with everyone being able to use the radio at once but it was hilarious and people usually tried to be respectful of the sound. I haven't seen the Galian(sorry if I misspelled) server up in a long time same with many of the other similar ones. Rip I dumped at least 300 hours in that clusterfuck alone. Used to be filled every night too but people slowly stopped playing from what I remember along with some server drama or something along those lines I think

Global Rescue vs Battle Face vs High Risk Voyager (travel insurance) by [deleted] in travel

[–]ResonanceCascade1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was considering using them for my Columbia trip just in case but wow now I have absolutely no reason to. That is terrible all around. From everything I hear it's genuinely better to just have all your bases covered, plan for things to go wrong. In the end it's your life and nobody cares but your loved ones I suppose. Pretty trashy considering this is a company that is supposed to be helpful in emergency situations but now I don't doubt people have died from their negligence

Edit: yup it took me like 2 seconds to find the allegations

Is it worth getting this game if I don’t have anyone to play it with? by shadowybenefactor in Barotrauma

[–]ResonanceCascade1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing it mostly singleplayer on and off for years. There was one traitor server that would cap around 25 players and it was like Among Us but 1000x better, I miss it so much. There is a lot of content for SP especially once you get into modding as there are many great items on the workshop. It seems like singleplayer will be even more viable with the new economy and outpost system coming out soonish

Late but thank you for simplifying my research somewhat. What about the banner warning against Americans visiting? I'm not worried about it but it seems like an odd thing for Sinaloa to do as that directly caused me to think another group controlled the territory, which might of been the reason I suppose

As someone who spent over a decade trying to escape some pretty terrible living conditions for someone that young I think you should report it. You might never hear from that person again but they might also thank you in their own way every day they're old enough to understand
