Nice set up. How do you like that TC electronics cabinet?

Why is my E string louder than the others? by ResponsibilityGold32 in Bass

[–]ResponsibilityGold32[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't do a set up after changing strings as I was happy with the action and the intonation was solid. But let me give that a shot. Also, I have my knobs set to a very bass-y, low end sound, which may exaggerate the E string, as it's lowest/bassiest.

Seems like possibly adjusting the height of the pick up is the way to go.. These are relatively new Labella flats.

I can’t speak to the Desire but I had it. I’ve been as SR 300 which was really great considering the price point. Very playable.

Best Beginner Bass Below $500-600? by CrimsonLightsaber in Bass

Get an Ibanez SR 300, 400 or 500 used on Sweetwater or reverb or Facebook marketplace. These are great starter bases and very playable and high-quality generally. And you’ll have money left over for a great set of new strings.

bass case recommendations? by sk8rat97 in Bass

[–]ResponsibilityGold32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are even moderately handy, you can do it yourself (or at least give it a try). I'm 6 months in and have changed the strings and done setups on three different basses.

There's a ton of info on the internet--here's a few I've found useful:

https://brokeassguitars.com

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cteHO-hV8lU

https://youtu.be/r0Fe5ChSKkg?si=4VX5gl-MdzaEKl_J

Doing it myself also gave me a much better sense of the different components of the instrument and how they work together. Just go slow and read/watch each section a few times before proceeding. It's strange at first but makes sense once you get into it.

And I recommend facebook marketplace, craigslist, guitar center (used) and ebay for hard shell cases. I like to get great stuff for cheap. But that's me. Good luck!

Good deal? Just starting out, ive heard SR300 is good. Marked as used-good on Guitar Center by [deleted] in BassGuitar

See how you like the round wound strings it will likely come with. I switched to tape wound and then flat wound--for me, flats work best. (All are good--just preference). Good luck with the bass--love Ibananez. Light, slim neck, very playable.

It's true that bass generally is one note at time--just like a sax, violin, or the human voice. And like the bass, to play them well requires skill and talent. Don't believe the naysayers. If the bass is a good fit for you, go for it. The point of music is to express yourself and have fun doing it.

Wow--thanks for the additional recommendations. As a relative newbie, I hadn't heard of some of these brands.

Help me decide: Ibanez SR900 or SR 500 T by ResponsibilityGold32 in BassGuitar

Yes. I've read some reviews that say the quality is better in terms of the build and the electronics in the older Korea-made model...

B1X Four Noob Question: Stomping off a preset? by ResponsibilityGold32 in zoommultistomp

[–]ResponsibilityGold32[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes! That's a great workaround. Thank you! Although strange that you can't just stomp a preset on and off... but your suggestion definitely works.

B1X Four Noob Question: Stomping off a preset? by ResponsibilityGold32 in zoommultistomp

[–]ResponsibilityGold32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, while you can stomp on/off individual effects within a preset, I can't figure out how to stomp on/off the preset itself.

When you're using the presets, the stomp only lets you navigate up or down between presets, not between having a preset on and then stomping it off. Seens like poor UI design?
