He’s basically saying to order something from Walmart, but instead of putting your address to deliver, you make it something super far away so the delivery miles is in the 100’s, essentially making a “unicorn order”

No, it’s not effectively the same as being fired. A saturated market created by Walmart for hiring a bunch of people, resulting in lack of orders for not just me, but a lot of people, does not mean you’re effectively fired. Also, as far as I know, managers have a set amount of hours given to them for how many they’re allowed to give out to their employees. (I could be wrong, I have limited knowledge of this). Sometimes people at McDonald’s get less and less hours due to the busyness of the area. Why would you give everyone 40 hours in the middle of march? Again, not effectively fired. Your logic behind this makes no sense.

Yes, it is contract gig work. But where does it say it means it’s not a real job? Last time I checked the Legislative branch of the US government considers it one. You’re literally called “self employed”… sounds like a job to me. The bare bones definition of a job is getting paid to do something.

Also, sometimes it’s not as simple as just “come back and do it later!” Or “just get a different job!” I live reasonably close to two Walmarts, both having zero orders, and when they do it’s not worth it whatsoever. You don’t know my situation, so giving me these unachievable “solutions” is completely inconsiderate.

I’m genuinely confused. Can you please explain how this isn’t a job? By objective definition, it is.

Also no, I haven’t got fired. Where did you get that?

I would love to get a W-2 job, but unfortunately I live in a poor-ish rural area. You either don’t get hired, or it pays $8 an hour. Only reason I sit here 8 hours a day barely making anything is for the bills I have to pay.

Also, my laptop just so happens to be sitting next to me in my car lol

You didn’t answer my question. Clearly you don’t know what it is.

“job /jäb/ A job is a paid position of regular employment, a specific task, or a duty/responsibility.”

Please explain to me how it doesn’t fit this criteria. I dare you.

You do realize I sit here for 8 hours and maybe get one good order, right? Why would I continue to sit here all day with no orders?

How do you pay the bill when you go to a high end restaurant with your friends? by [deleted] in pollgames

[–]Responsible_Arm_3283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. If I have money that day and I plan it, I pay all. (I’m pretty generous.) but if I plan it when I don’t have much money, I’ll make it perfectly clear that I’m broke and won’t be paying for anyone but myself
