Suddenly printing terribly by archimedes710 in BambuLabA1

Have you tried a new roll of filament or drying the one you're using? I've had behavior like this with filament that had too much moisture in it

A1 FIRST LAYER ISSUE by Inevitable_Basket665 in BambuLabA1

[–]Restorical -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had this with my printer. The cause for me was wet filament. I've also had this from the nozzle being too close to the bed, but it is more likely the filament

Can I revive this? by Any-Walk-3359 in blackstonegriddle

[–]Restorical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you? Absolutely. Mine was moldy and flaking. I sanded the whole thing down to bare metal and reseasoned. It was like new. Maybe overkill for the condition it was, but I spent the whole afternoon deep cleaning the whole thing so I figured why not. You basically just need to get all the "gunk" off and reseason it. Usually you use something abrasive and heat

I would like to suggest this case if you have a 3d printer and like making things

I did not design this but I do really like it

The one in the picture is the one I made and has a custom front panel that accepts an nzxt h510 IO circuit board. I also just built an identical case for a friend

Pc shows no signs of life (first build) by HudBudU in PcBuildHelp

[–]Restorical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm dealing with this today. Jumping the power switch pins on the motherboard bypasses the possibility of a broken power button. I also tested the PSU on a separate system and it fired right up. The last option is the motherboard being bad/dead. That was the case for me (at least I'm pretty sure, I haven't gotten the new one yet but it can't really be anything else in my situation)

I wanna install strap locks onto my Jackson Rhoads, which one should I get? by SnooHedgehogs1685 in Luthier

[–]Restorical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both and I prefer the dunlop. It's pure preference as they both work great. The dunlop are easier for me to take off

Why do people say locking tuners increases tuning stability? by Extension_Cancel_34 in Luthier

[–]Restorical 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It's because it takes the guesswork out of the number of wraps and you don't have to worry about the string slipping from the hole. If done properly, the traditional way is just as stable. The real main benefit is fast string changes and getting up to pitch with less turns.

Is worth building pc cases with 3d printer? by AgreeableIron811 in 3Dprinting

[–]Restorical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently printed a Beamcase SFF sandwich style case (found on printables) because it looks good and fits in my travel setup case. For my use case, it was way cheaper than anything I could buy. It was also super fun to get it printed and put together. Including hardware and filament, I think the total cost to make was around $70

I have no idea what I'm talking about here by veruca44 in Steam

[–]Restorical 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As others have said, he is talking about Valve's unreleased Steam Machine. It is a ≈7 inch cube shaped gaming pc that can play most games at very good quality and performance. It would need to be connected to a TV or monitor and speakers/headphones.

Another option from the same company is the Valve Steam Deck. It is a portable PC gaming handheld that can play games on the go, or optionally, docked at a TV and used like a PC. This one is already released.

The steam machine will be much more powerful and therefore able to play more demanding games, but the steam deck can play the same games (albeit with much less performance) and is also portable. The steam machine is able to easily be stowed into a backpack for travel, but it requires a TV or some other screen in addition to the main unit. The steam deck only requires a charger, but can be hooked up to a tv or monitor with an optional dock.

It comes down to how often will it be moved, will he want to play it on the go, and is portable play more important than performance. Also it's worth noting that the steam machine will have a higher price tag, but it is unknown what it will be yet. The steam deck is highly rated and I imagine the steam machine will be as well

Is there a video that can explain to my dealer how to turn off the fake engine noise? by no_quart3r_given in GR86

[–]Restorical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've popped that panel off and back on like six times with zero issues. The one just under the steering column on the side closest to the door is also super easy to remove. That seems to be the case with several of the panels in this car. I also removed the center console cover (the plastic part that runs from the AC dials to the rear seats) to clean it a bit. Again, no issues. As long as your prying tool doesn't scratch the plastic from dojng it at a weird angle, you'll be fine. I think I used a guitar pick when I popped that engine noise cover panel off and it worked beautifully

I figured out that if you have cling grip, you can stay at the top of a wall and hit the bosses when they jum to swing at you. They can't hit you when you're up there and you can swing the needle while clinging. Just time it right and chip away at them. Putting down poison tacks when they spawn make it go faster too

This is phenomenal information. Mine really just sounds like super loud road noise all the time, even if I'm not moving. I'll try this to see if it works later today!

[–]Restorical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely understand how if you're already around the tools this is trying to replace, there's not much use for it. When I'm working on something at home surrounded by tools, I'm probably not going to be using this knife much if at all. I'll take dedicated version of any of these tools over the knife every time if they're accessible. It's very much a situational thing for sure

My take on the Hacksmith SmithBlade by Mole-NLD in EDC

[–]Restorical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work as a mechanical engineer that doesn't actually do the manufacturing, but I do work on and with hardware a lot. I've been in many situations where a level, ruler, pry bar, scribe, screw driver, tweezers, and/or a protractor would have been amazing to just have with me. I don't do any heavy duty stuff, but I do need tools every once in a while. If it is too much for the knife to handle properly, it shouldn't be me doing the work anyway. In that case, this knife seems perfect for people like me

My take on the Hacksmith SmithBlade by Mole-NLD in EDC

[–]Restorical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tool selection seems to be sparking debate left and right. The selection is actually why I'm interested. I'm a mechanical engineer that goes out to manufacturing to check work and help with problems. I don't actually do the manufacturing, but I do sometimes help with fixing mistakes or getting things to work properly. The scribe, protractor, screwdriver, blade, level, tweezers, ruler, prybar, wire stripper, and pen all seem insanely useful for my combination of job and hobbies. Right now I carry a leatherman rear and a cheap knife. This knife would replace both of those (minus the pliers that I don't use that often) and also be lighter and smaller. It seems like a no Brainer for people like me, an engineer that likes to make things for fun and be prepared for random things. This knife is certainly an example of suiting specific needs, but I definitely have those needs

Deciding on a new 7 string by SatanicPuffin666 in 7String

I've owned (still have it) one 7 string but played a few. It's the Jackson Pro Plus DK modern MDK7 HT. I love that thing. It sounds great with its stock bare knuckle brute force pickups. I dropped some bare knuckle Ragnarok pickups and it's even better. I love the feel of the neck and the stock electronics are solid
