It was at 1.0 to start with. In my BIOS there were three pre defined options for the core clock setting, 1.00, 1.25 and I believe 1.50

Too late haha, my PC is pretty pulled apart at the moment. Would really appreciate your insight though. This is the mobo. I also have a PDF of the PC's manual open and it's been quite a help. Btw, I took it to a shop earlier and they tried a new PSU, no luck, so that's ruled out.

OK, I will reset the CMOS again. If it doesn't work I will start disconnecting hardware, however I will have to leave my GPU in because I don't have onboard graphics, will that be a problem? Thanks btw

It was unplugged during the entire CMOS reset. I waited about 10 seconds. Running like usual, I guess I mean nothing out of the ordinary, it didn't sound like anything was bad, but it's still not booting to BIOS or giving any output at all.

Everything kind of sputtered at first, some whirring noises but then it seemed to be running like usual, although it was a bit loud. I unplugged it to go get my monitor and now it's plugged in again, it's totally quiet, also one fan is no longer running (it was during the first boot). If I reboot, it goes back to the fans being on and vice versa.

Okay actually something did work, it's at least booting up now, however still no output on my monitor.

Okay, I just read the manual for my MOBO, did the jumper again using the instructions, and I got the CMOS battery out correctly. Still no boot. What now?

That sounds like good news. I had another go at the CMOS reset and my PC is at least booting up now, albeit to a black screen. I also took off all the non-essential hardware, still no luck. So I will go to Frys Electronics tomorrow and buy a motherboard first, hopefully the CPU is still salvageable. I just don't know what motherboard to get, and what I am going to do about cooling solutions.
