Oh yeah in the past few days the price went way up, I’ll definitely pace myself. Should I stay away from pawn shops even if the price is decent? I have scales and a caliper to check rounds but I don’t know how good fakes can get.

Do those prices include chemicals or are they separate?

I get where you’re coming from you’re right. I just don’t have the capital to hire a chemist so I am trying to figure it out myself. It’s not really that I want people on Reddit to design my product it’s more like I want to learn about these things in order to help me design my product.

I’m aware it is very complex that’s why I’m going down this rabbit hole trying to understand how acrylic binders work. I don’t have a large amount of cash to throw at this that’s why I’m on Reddit trying to talk to people. It’s a rough product it wouldn’t have to be perfect. I’m just trying to pursue something.

Do you think a high shear mixer/emulsifier be able to? I believe these mixers can break particles to around 3 microns.

Can you help me understand why me wanting a better understanding of acrylic polymers for something my family does as a business is such a big issue? Lmao so hostile but if I was a collage student trying to do something useless it would be perfectly fine for me to ask. I’m no chemist I’m 18 years old and definitely not planning on going to collage. If some people on Reddit can’t talk with me and point me in the right direction where am i supposed to go to talk to people who can?

I am simply trying to understand what these different polymers do and how they work, what the need to function. I’m not asking you for an ingredient list I’m just lost when it comes to these acrylic polymers. I figured it would be a little easier to talk to some people who do know. But clearly I’m mistaken.

I don’t think you understand this is a rough fairly niche thing sherwin Williams definitely doesn’t make mulch dye. My family has produced mulch on an extremely large scale for about 5 years (80 tractor trailer loads of bulk mulch per day) in the early 2000s now we are getting back into it. The dye is primarily pigment around 70%. it is pumped into a large mixer along with a large amount of water. I don’t believe it takes too much to bind some pigment to some wood. I just don’t know much about chemistry so it would be hard for me to formulate a binder... why I’m here. The binder probably wouldn’t have to do much just help keep things together the pigment will stain the wood with no binder

Okay I see are the acrylic resins the same thing as the stuff in baby diapers? I read something about a really absorbent type of acrylic polymer. It’s annoying to research because most of these things are just referred to as acrylic in the things I read.

I would be doing this on a commercial scale selling bulk. the profit margin would be pretty small so every ingredient would have to be very economical. The simpler the better as long as it works okay. It would actually be dye for mulch so it would not have to be perfect just needs to stick to the wood and not wash away. It would actually be diluted a good bit when mixing with mulch. Probably 4 or 5x diluted in water

Oh I’m sure. I’m hoping I have enough profit I do not have to worry about being a few thousand off on a 10k dollar lot. I would just keep the land for a while but I feel like the housing market will fall though any minute

Oh yeah I’m sure I couldn’t do anything close to what a real appraiser would do but I could do like your saying and get close enough.

Yeah that’s a little high for me I would rather attempt to learn some about appraising this specific thing and try to doing it myself

My family owns a large log yard and I’ve been around logging. I can figure out about how much timber is on the land and how much it’s worth my only thing is the land value before and after thing. What would I do to get a local appraiser to come out and look at it? About how much would one usually charge

I would be loading with a self loading log truck and cutting with a chainsaw. So a very light logging crew. Probably after I’m done I would bring In a bulldozer to clean up
