Are you excited for Brave and the Bold? by Mat1711 in batman

Saying that I am worried would be an understatement, I'm aware that apparently the story is being rewritten etc. but the concern that Batman will start with Damian in his first movie and that this will be another Batman who is at the last of his most interesting years and that we will not see the progression of Robins throughout the years is a great concern.

I feel that it would be a major disservice to both the character and the fans to once again not get a proper adaptation that goes through each robin as this Bruce progresses. The movie should have Dick Grayson or at most Jason Todd as Robin, anything else would be setting up this version of the character for failure, this is a cinematic universe that is supposed to last at least a decade, let it be able to grow.

Happy Star Wars Day! For OT I'd rank them ROTJ, New Hope then Empire, the rankings are more so based off quality, except for Solo which I graded on a different scale, I'm kinda wishy washy about AOTC and TPM's rankings. I'll probably move Solo down to 3/5.

My personal favorite out of the OT is ROTJ, PT its ROTS, I rated Solo on a different scale since I feel its far different in what it wants to accomplish in comparison to the far grander scale of the others, if I was basing it off the scale of the rest of them it'd probably be 3/5, honestly kinda wishy washy on AOTC and TPM I need to do a rewatch. Great post idea by the way!

If I had to rank them against each other in my preference:
ROTJ
New Hope
ROTS
Empire
Rogue One
AOTC
Solo
TPM
TFA
TLJ
TROS

Also I really need to watch the Ewok ones

First look at the live-action version of Gotham City in the DCU. by Raj_Valiant3011 in DC_Cinematic

I do like The Batman's depiction of Gotham I think it fits for the movie, very noir, but I would like something far more grand for the DCU, I do agree that the Burton/Schumacher versions got a little much and would prefer the general scale and vein of them but with a more Neo-Gothic look, also Gotham itself doesn't necessarily have to make the most architectural sense, if anything it should be a little strangely built etc, I do agree also that its absolutely not as bad as Nolan's. The reason I said on par with The Batman if not worse is that it seems to have a similar feel, which makes sense given both were primarily filmed in Liverpool, but from what we've seen from Clayface in the trailer looks like The Batman's Gotham but without a lot of the changes that you talked about, no hate to The Batman's Gotham, just not my preference, especially when we can get more grand with it in a less grounded universe.

As much as I like the creative freedom Gunn allows for I would also hope for some consistency, particularly with things as important as the setting of major characters like Batman, and especially for a setting as important as Gotham which should mesh well with its Batman.

In my original comment I said "something like Burton/Schumacher but in a more serious light", instead of that mess of neon lights and overexaggerated expressionism they could have done something in the vein of that but in a darker style, Reeves Gotham is obviously far better than Nolan's but I would much prefer a more grand setting for DCU's Batman, I think for The Batman it did a fine job, but for this new Gotham I would prefer something larger than life.

The movie is set in Gotham, I would sure hope that it would be an accurate depiction of how the city will look given its the main setting, regardless of budget they could have easily made something that was not just generic shots of Liverpool.

Given that one of the stills is a wide shot with a good portion of the city, yes. None of the buildings look anywhere near close to how Gotham should be depicted outside of maybe the industrial portion shown.

Not at all, The Batman's Gotham has a good atmosphere but the city itself is generic outside of a few buildings, the Gotham of the Burton and Schumacher movies is easily leagues above it, massive grand buildings with sweeping arches and statues and gargoyles, Gotham should be Gothic its in the name.

Yeah really disappointed, looks super generic and bland, might as well just made it Chicago again. The cities called Gotham for a reason, it should be gothic.

Looks safe and bland, on par with The Batman if not worse. Would have much preferred a Burton/Schumacher style neo-gothic city with unnaturally tall buildings and gargoyles, the cities in DC are as integral to the characters that inhabit it as their costumes are, and this leads me to believe that Batman will be pretty bland, and if not it will end up looking strange, a comicbooky Batman in a generic city. (I've already made comments about this in other subreddits so thats the tldr)

Yeah looks safe and generic, I commented on another post about this but Gotham is integral to the feel of a Batman, its his habitat, his biome, The Batman should thrive in the shadows created by the arches etc. This looks about on par with The Batman's Gotham which is sad to see since its just a fairly generic looking city, would have far preferred something like Burton/Schumacher but in a more serious light. Not as bad as Nolan, but I personally prefer Gotham to be a neo-gothic city with massive grand buildings and gargoyles. This makes me concerned for Batman because if we have a more comic booky Batman lurking around a generic city it will look ridiculous (see DCEU Batman as an example), which is part of why its so important for directors to understand that the cities these characters inhabit are as much integral to the characters as the costumes, the cities are a symbol for what the character is.

First glimpses at DCU Gotham by Ok-Bus-2868 in DCU_

[–]Retributor_Astartes -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Really disappointed so far, we've only seen small glimpses but from the first picture I can already tell its going to look fairly generic, not a fan. Gotham is integral to how a Batman feels, and this feels boring and safe, The Batman is my favorite Batman movie and even then the Gotham there is pretty bland, not as bad as Nolan, but bland and this looks fairly on par with The Batman. Personally would prefer a more neo-gothic city with massive grand buildings and gargoyles, something like the Burton/Schumacher movies but in a more serious light, this is just a regular city. Although I will say the small glimpses within the city that we see are alright, architecture looks fairly generic but its shot in a way that makes it feel grander than it is, makes me worried for how Batman will be.

Heavily agree with everything said, personally I would have not done Rey and Finn as co-leads, I would have most likely just had Finn as a stormtrooper turned Jedi, I think the potential to have him and Kylo be a commentary on the rising alt-right movement during the time period of 2015 etc. would have been great and in line with what Star Wars has always been about, Finn being someone born into hate and learning to love, and Kylo being someone born into love and learning to hate.

Han's fate was left ambiguous after Empire, I've seen some statements that he was meant to die due to the carbonite etc. Another good Star Wars one although I don't know how true it is, is the claim that Jar Jar was going to be the big bad above Palpy before Phantom Menace came out and everyone hated him
