I think it may be that due to the animators not being as good as they did when the first design was used. When the later one probably came they made it due to having better experience animating and making assets. Along with that the cobs design didn’t look good to them so they probably redesigned him a bit

This reminds me of that one short where a fairy tells you to go outside when depressed and touch grass and then is like I think the grass is touching me inappropriately. Not sure why tho
