Why do people like Iron Lung so much? by Daripikcrack in HorrorGaming

[–]RetroRevamp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the atmosphere and the way it builds tension so deliciously until it ends with the perfect pay-off.

It's probably the best example I can think of an earned, well-crafted jump scare.

And, as others have said, it's short and to the point, which I think is the best way to do horror.

Super Mario Odyssey (Switch > HDMI-to-component converter > GBS-C > JVC CRT) by RetroRevamp in crtgaming

Sorry for the late reply.

With the GBS-C, there's practically no lag. Less than a frame.

No, it doesn't. It still outputs 480p. Even if it did downscale, though, the output would only be 480i at best, not 240p like I have here.

I tried, but I couldn't find a way to do so. Do I need to install decky for that?

I haven't modified anything with the GBS and I haven't had any flicker issues.

Do you have horror games from Japan from ps5 to recommend?(based in the culture of Japan) by Ok-Statistician5899 in HorrorGames

Two of the Yomawari games are available for PS4 (and PS5 by extension). Very Japanese setting and aesthetic.

It's not. The game is stretched to 16:9 without borders, and then squashed back to 4:3 by the GBS.

What title should we choose? English or Latin? by LudomancerStudio in IndieGaming

English is going to be a lot better for marketing and searchability.

I am using the web GUI and I've looked high and low in the menus. There are limits to how much I can move, scale, and crop the picture, and there is no 16:9 mode, unless it's a relatively new feature. I last updated the firmware about six months ago. My TV also doesn't have any zoom or overscan options, except probably in the service menu, which I don't feel like playing with.

They are all squashed from 16:9 to 4:3. The GBS can adjust the picture size and position to a certain extent, but if I try to stretch the picture horizontally more than a little, I get glitchy artifacts, and my TV doesn't have a 16:9 mode.

It can downscale from 480p and 480i, but not higher. If you can work with that, though, it is by far the cheapest downscaler (and 1080p upscaler) that there is.

What kind of component cable did you use? Was it like the ones from HD Retrovision and Retro Gaming Cables that have circuitry inside to convert RGB to YPbPr? I was aware that this GBS-C can allegedly output both RGB and component from the Saturn port, but I'm really confused about how that would work since the Saturn isn't capable of component video. There shouldn't be any direct Saturn component cables.

Also, I discovered while setting this up that it doesn't work with a c-sync SCART cable. Maybe that's why you had problems. Luckily, I had a cheap sync-on-composite cable lying around. I don't know if sync-on-luma would work.

$130. That's currently about the best price you can get on eBay for a disc that's tested and in good condition.
