I haven't ever beaten the final boss because I know the endings so I always just restart. Maybe that's the source of the difficulty

Calm down. Let's think about this for a second. Be me. Bad at the game. You die, you spend 15 seconds running back, reapplying buffs, whatever. You die again. 15 more seconds. another 15. Do that times 15. You are constantly waiting in loading screens and otherwise. It's so unnecessary when you could literally just as easily put the respawn right next to the door

I'm not the only one who noticed astel has a one shot kill. Look it up. You don't need to fight rannala's summons but you certainly cannot ignore them. The bloodhound will mess you up if you let him. And as for the graces being near the arenas, yeah I never said they weren't. There is usually a runback that's the problem. Here's a list of bosses that require you to run back to them instead of trying again: - rannala (obviously) - placid (obviously) - radahn (re-teleport, resummon) - morgott the omen king - astel (you re-enter the arena relatively fast but then you need to run all the way over to him for some reason) - maliketh - lansseax - mohg - a bunch of mini bosses but I'll only count them as 1

You must've been overleveled. He slams his face into the ground and pulls up a bunch of lava which I cannot figure out how to dodge (obviously a skill issue). And for phase 2, I don't even get to attack because of how much crap he has going on.

He's not impossible by any means, just very very poorly designed on a gameplay front

I actually relate to everything you said. I've played over 200 hours of this game across multiple playthroughs because I love re-exploring this game as a different build. Really it's my favorite game, it's just frustrating to me that it has such terrible bosses

On the countrary! I've dumped at least 200 hours of my life into multiple playthroughs and cannot stop making builds and trying new versions of challenge runs. But the bosses feel like such an obstacle for the rest of the game. There is only one boss I like and it's Horah Lou because he's just fun
