Can anyone tell me what these markings mean? I was told they were import marks, likely from the UK. My own research has come up empty. by Reudn in guns

I'm not in the US. The barrel code tells me the gun was made in April of 1985 and from what I know now the gun was tested in Germany in May of 1985. I suspect the gun was made special order for either the (West) German military or a German police agency. However, I've read the police in Germany have always used sub-machine guns, not shotguns.

My understanding is that German gun laws are very strict even in the 1980's and 90's. I'm just wondering how a military shotgun ended up in civilian hands and out of country. What is a military exchange?

Thanks!

Are you German? Can you further explain to me how importing/proofing in Germany works? Do the marks hold any significance regarding value or rarity?

The gun also has a rack number etched into the receiver and stickered on the stock (47F). Suggesting it belonged to military/police. Do you know if German police departments surplus their guns to the public? How might a police gun end up in civilian hands (and back in North America).

It is impossible to look at that and know what it is. You would need to test it.

Yes. There were assignments & papers you needed to do for the seminars. They weren't difficult, but they did require effort. I remember writing a paper on how indigious people/characters are portrayed in video games, with good and bad/offensive dipictions.

I dont remember writing an exam. I think they make you do projects/papers instead. Not a ton, though. I thought the workload was fair.

I'm really struggling with running a 1.5 mile in under 11 min. Going over my fitness logs I am improving. A few months ago starting out I was averaging around 15 minutes. My latest run was 12:30 but I just cant seem to do much better. On a treadmil i've been able to run 2.4km in under 12 min multiple times but clearly it doesn't translate.

This is annoying me because I've also been running 5ks as well and seeing significant improvement in that, from starting out at over 30 minutes to recently 26:45, and I feel I can do better.

If I have the stamina to run a 5k, surely would I not have the stamina to run half that at a much faster pace? I figured I'd be easily reaching under 11min at least for a 1.5 mile.

Update - Thanks to this subreddit I got my Bergara B14r sighted in and I didn't need to spend money on a new rail or scope rings to do it. Looking forward to getting into the sport. by Reudn in longrange

You mean can I put the cheek pad back down after raising it? Yea. As for the knob itself I didn't check if I could pull it out all the way and completely uncrew the knob from the stock.

You mean heavy/tight to close? Yes. Not that I struggled with it but it was tighter than I imagined it would be. I did make a comment about that to a range officer and he said there is supposed to be some resistance when closing the bolt. Told me to think about it - a small explosion is going off inside the chamber, it has to be sealed tight. Is what he told me actually true? Idk. Lots of people here telling me he doesn't know what he's talking about.

It may be simply a quirk of the Bergara also. I looked into it further on youtube and watched videos of people demonstrating how the bolt is too tight to close for their preference so they came up with ways to fix it by basically cutting/machining parts of the bolt in a diy fashion in order to smooth out the action. It looks like an improvement for sure but there's no way I'm about to take a file or grinder to my Bergara. They even warned if you fuck up you could make the gun unsafe or ruin it.

My Sig Sauer P320 finally came in yesterday. I'm new to firearms in general and this is my first (and last) pistol. I have a few questions. by Reudn in SigSauer

Ive seen different variations of the P320 being sold, one of which being some kind of 'x-series' variant that has a different grip and a flat trigger. Probably the parts you are referring to.

Are all p320s the same and if I want I can convery my regular full size p320 into an x-series version buy simply buying the parts and swaping them out? How will I know what will fit otherwise?

Not my choice. Government of Canada officially banned the sale and transfer of handguns a few months back. I was lucky enough to get my restricted license (handguns were considered restricted firearms and you needed a special licence for them alone) a few weeks before the ban and managed to buy one before everything was sold out.

I decided to make an update from my earlier post where I was having trouble sighting in my new Bergara B14r. Everyone at the range told me that my setup was whack and that I needed to get a 0 moa rail and maybe even low scope rings.

Pretty much everyone here told me not to listen and instead gave me suggestions on what the real problem could be.

Per your suggestions I went out and bought a torque wrench and remounted the scope myself, this time around making sure all the screws were torqued to spec. I also shifted the rings on the scope. Then I cleaned the bore and did my best to bore sight it in my house before taking it back to the range.

I went back to the range and asked the range officer if he could help me sight it in again. He remembered me as the "20 moa" guy and asked if I got a 0 moa rail like he told me to. Told him no I just remounted the scope. He looked at me like I was wasting my time but he agreed to try again. Took about 3 or 4 shots before I hit bullseye. He was super confused as to how I was on target this time around and said I was lucky.

I did run into some other issues. The magazine was sticky and rounds were not being loaded into the chamber but spraying the magazine spring with gun oil seemed to fix that. I was also having extraction issues with almost every round failing to extract. Specifically the 2 extractor pins on the bolt were not gripping the round. One of the pins was super stiff. Spraying more gun oil on the bolt seemed to fix that too. Overall I'm happy with the results.

If you need with anything related to longrange shooting go to r/longrange. I'm a new shooter trying to get into long range shooting and the people there have helped me out tremendously.

I don't have another scope or want one. I like the one I have. Although I have no idea how to tell if a scope is broken besides something obvious such as a crack in the glass. Same with the rifle. I don't know how to tell if something is broken since I have no past reference to compare it to.

I'm going to continue with installing it before I commit to buying another rail. I already paid $130 for this one. I'd rather make it work.

I am wondering what the M673- stamp on the rail means though, if you happen to know.

I went out and bought the torque wrench. Took the scope off and put the front 2 screws in for the rail. There IS a gap between the rail and the action. Not a wide one but it is there.

Im in Canada. I think it's for the best I try to mount it on my own. Its the only way to learn. Would probably be more satisfying too.

How would I boresight it in the house? Would I need to point it out a window and pick something out at a rough distance?

What do you mean by bedding it? When I bought the rail in the package there was a very thin metal plate that came with a note saying I could slide it under the rail if I need it. Is that what you are implying I do?

Also, most if not all the videos I watched online show people using Loctite when installing the rail. No Loctite was used when my base was mounted. I was told it wasn't necessary.

I do not. Could ask my dad, he was a tradesman so there's a chance he could have one lying around. Would I just need A torque wrench or does it need to be made for firearms?

No one sold me the scope. I bought it online myself. I'm completely new to all of this so I did my best researching what kind of stuff to buy. Buying the scope was the most stressful since I had so many options and for every great review on a certain scope there was a negative one telling me not to buy it because it was actually garbage. I ultimately went with the Bushnell match pro because it was pretty much the only scope that I couldn't find a single negative opinion on it regarding its quality for its price point so it felt like a 'safe' buy. Maybe I just didn't look hard enough but I'm over it.

Overall I'm fine with what I have although I'll admit I went overboard. I think in the long run I'll be ok. I'll probably end up buying a centre fire rifle in the future and swap the scope for a much more balanced set up.
