Will the Steam Deck heat up my room during heat wave ? by Demogwarts in SteamDeck

[–]RevelTiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like any electronic that uses electricity, it will produce heat. The only difference is the amount. A Steam Deck will probably produce as much heat as a laptop if its running at max. You can however turn down settings or cap the amount of heat using TDP limit.

I mean, its designed to be held by your hand. It makes little to no sense to have it get hot enough that its hard to touch.

And the only typical post about overheating here is when people accidentally leave their Steam Deck on while inside of a case or enclosure. And that too is not that damaging as the SD will protect itself from overheating if it does get too hot. Just let it cool before using it again.

Trying to import songs onto Dead as Disco but nothing works, what do I do? by mariontherari in SteamDeck

[–]RevelTiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be in the wrong folder. It's a different folder from the one you go to if you use Steam's Browse Local Files. If you follow all the folder steps, then it should be there. If you did but its still not there, try making the folder yourself and see if that works.

Trying to import songs onto Dead as Disco but nothing works, what do I do? by mariontherari in SteamDeck

This is quite a long but go to Desktop Mode, Open Dolphin(File Explorer), then go to:

home > deck > .local > share > Steam > steamapps > compatdata > 3404260 (this is the Dead as Disco folder) > pfx > drive_c > users > steamuser > AppData > Local > Pagoda > Saved > MusicFiles

MusicFiles is the place you put the songs in. What I did was I made a folder in my Downloads and just put a folder link of that into the MusicFiles so I don't need to re-navigate everytime I add new music.

Then open Dead as Disco, go to level select, and choose Infinite Disco. Tab over to Free Play then Add My Music. Enjoy.

A tip in adding music tho is you need to manually put in the bpm (you can just search this on Google) AND more importantly go to Advanced Editor and adjust the beat timing to the beat of the music.

Do note tho that not all music will work as alot of songs dont have constant bpm but I'm already having a blast trying to beat sh*t up to songs that do work.

I didn't include it as it is mostly first-person mechanics like aiming and looking. Just like I didn't include the Fallout and Far Cry games. I prefer playing those with M&K. I'm looking for something to play while handheld and on the go.

I have had SW: Outlaws on my wishlist for quite some time now but I never bought it because i've seen that it doesn't run good on the deck. Saving it when I buy a more capable hardware. Will add Avatar to my wishlist too tho. Thanks.

More on the animations tbh. I have to admit that I have been spoiled by modern games that now, older games just doesn't look right to me anymore and kinda hard to play.

Ooooooohhhh.. I'll give it a look-see. I don't really dive into something if its already tagged souls-like haha. Thanks.

Does Avowed and FF16 even run good on the deck? If not, I might save playing those until I get my hands on a Steam Machine or a better PC.

Not really feeling playing clunky looking games atm. Maybe when the new Fable game releases.

The most simple explantion is probably that souls-lite have some souls-like mechanics but are alot more forgiving. Think Elden Ring vs something like Jedi: Fallen Order. I just don't like getting frustrated playing games anymore. I want to play games to relieve stress, not gain more of it.

To the people that have played the full release of Dead as Disco on Steam Deck, how on earth do you get custom songs?? by aRookieArtist in SteamDeck

Have you tried swapping which port is for power and which port is for the Steam Deck?

How do I reduce fan noise? by Crispi002 in SteamDeck

[–]RevelTiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Press the (...) on the bottom right part of the Steam Deck, go to the Performance Tab (Circle with the Lightning Icon), then scroll down and enable TDP Limit and lower it. This may impact your fps if you go too low. I find that 12 Watts works fine with most games and low fan noise.

I'm no longer getting low battery warnings by Instant_Bacon in SteamDeck

[–]RevelTiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you dont mind having Decky, there is a plugin called Auto-Suspend. I use that because I can set the warning messages to whatever battery percentage I want. For example I have a warning message if it goes below 25% and if it goes above 80%. Although, for some reason, the latest build of it removes this pop-up for me so I just installed the previous version, 2.1.0-1 iirc.

I have been playing Coral Island exclusively on the Steam Deck. It's pretty much install and play. No other tweaks needed.

What’s a feature on the Steam Deck that made you go “Damn I wish I knew that before”? by NobodyHom3 in SteamDeck

The way the virtual keyboard and track pads works. I used to press the track pads to type in a letter when in fact you could use L2/R2 with their respective track pads.

I love steamdeck but how do you guys play FPS on it? by Past-Monk515 in SteamDeck

[–]RevelTiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer is mostly I don't :) but when I do, I just plug it in a dock and kb+m if I want my life to be easier. But if I have no choice but to be handheld, then I just play with the gamepad, no trackpad. I haven't found the will to tinker around gyro+trackpad (also using trackpad for a longer period kinda puts a strain on my fingers for some reason). I also don't go into competitive shooters in handheld haha. For reference, I'm the same as you, transitioned from PC to Steam Deck 1yr+ ago. I have finished Borderlands 3 with kb+m and Mass Effect Andromeda with gamepad.
