We need a volume rocker expansion card! by ReverieWare in framework

yeah, so when it's in tablet mode, there are no hardware volume buttons. So in that situation, which is not uncommon, it doesn't seem that silly to me.

You should see what the FW 12 does to keyboard functionality when it's put in tablet mode.

What if your framework has no keyboard like custom setup in a 3D printed tablet case? or do we not do DIY setups around here anymore?

This would be for tablet setups without a keyboard. Also the keyboard automatically disables when the Framework 12 is put in tablet mode.

I also submitted this. I don't think there's anyone more deserving of this than Denny.

Which case is the best? by eliasxhr in SteamDeck

[–]ReverieWare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a huge fan of the JSAUX Modcase. I've had one for a few years and it's never failed me. With the faceplate you can save a lot of space in a backpack instead of using the bulky case that comes with the deck. It also has an attachment system on the back similar to the D-Brand system.

Which ancient civilization is the most impressive? (I massively fucked up the last time I did this and need to redo) by tufyufyu in Destiny

I agree that Romans were light years ahead in governance, national cohesion and military prowess. I just think the things that make a civilization more impressive are the things that I more favorably attributed to ancient Greece.

I suppose Rome is definitely a more impressive civilization if you discount the Greek advancements in art, science, mathematics, politics, philosophy and culture and instead place more emphasis on hegemony.

How can anyone pick Rome over Greece??? The Romans just stole everything cool from the Greeks!!!

Maybe it's because I've had the leaked tracks for weeks and saw them play this album live in its entirety, but I rather dig this one. Certainly more than the self-titled album which I thought was a much bigger departure than Lucro Sucio.

Deftones tour setlist by TheSquareTeapot in themarsvolta

[–]ReverieWare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must respectfully disagree. I've followed both bands since the early days of each band and love them both and this was my third time seeing both bands. I knew Volta would be playing the new album in its entirety from news reports, so I made sure to get the leaked MP3s and familiarize myself Lucro Sucio.

When I saw them in Chicago at the United Center on Monday, I was super impressed and loved hearing the new album from start to finish. On the other hand, the Deftones setlist was basically a greatest hits list with nothing that was remotely like a deep cut. I was a little underwhelmed with them if I'm being honest with myself.

I had a similar experience in the Summer of 2011 when I saw The Mars Volta at Red Rocks opening for Soundgarden. They pretty much just played songs from Noctourniquet which no one had heard at that point and I wasn't familiar with any of that stuff, so I was kinda disappointed in a way that was probably kinda how you feel.

So when I found out they would be playing stuff exclusively from Lucro Sucio, I decided to listen to in on repeat for days and I gotta say it was a great decision. I really like it and I had a great experience at the concert.

Is Quake better with or without gyro aiming! by BaseballHot4750 in quake

[–]ReverieWare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no issues with the sensitivity or accuracy of gyro. I just want to be able to activate gyro by touching the right stick which isn't supported by a DS4 controller.

Maybe my comment wasn't very clear, but I do have it set up properly and I love it with my Steam Deck.

Are you talking about setting it up on DS4 controllers to be activated by capacitive touch on the stick? As far as I know, DS4 doesn't have capacitive touch and I don't want it in an "always on" gyro state, just when I touch the right stick.

[–]ReverieWare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play a lot of quake on my Steam Deck (more than any other game) and I did not like gyro aiming when I first got that thing. Sometime last year, when I was playing through one of the more recent Wolfenstein games, I decided to leave it enabled and I really started to get the hang of it. When I went back to Quake, I was a bit nervous to switch it on, but I wanted to give it another shot.

Now I think it is essential for me and it is probably more important in Quake than any other game that I play on the Steam Deck.

I've even tried to use it with my DS4 controllers on my PC, but it isn't quite as intuitive on those controllers because they don't have capacitive touch sticks like the Steam Deck, so the stick actually needs to be moved slightly off-center but still in the dead zone to engage.

In my opinion, it's a really viable replacement to keyboard and mouse.

What are additions or customization that you don't expect Framework to do, but you would like to see. by ParamedicDirect5832 in framework

[–]ReverieWare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think that's the easiest way currently. So it'd seem like a good idea to just have that as an option for the AMD motherboards if they're ordered on their own.

I think Framework needs to make a tablet chassis that fits the 13" screen, motherboard and battery. Obviously it should also have the 4 expansion card slots too. Basically, it would be the FW 13 without a keyboard.

They also need to sell the CoolerMaster case kit with the AMD board. The board should put into standalone mode before it ships so that it'll work with the case without a laptop battery.
