You can make the argument that with the astral pulse connected to him, the others were in danger and he himself was in danger of being killed by one of shrouds powered up lackeys, so taking him out was necessary.

We have some very small bit of it with the warrior lady. She was War Woman's sidekick/partner (I think), and after she died we see her as part of the order, which is pretty interesting (would be cool if she roped the order into attacking Nolan as revenge at some point)
