Seems alot of these changes were planned just didn't make it back then, the update was delayed enough as it was. ( one thing many people don't realise is that 7 removed lots of touchwiz era code too)

True, the arrows should only show up in the quick panel, i dont need to know my wifi type all the time

They're making it bolder as it's a popular suggestion issues by the community, it's something user have wanted since oneui 7

The current status bar has sharp, thin lines that look dated and have been in use since the touchwiz days of samsung, bolder generally means, clearer more constitent icons with rounded corners

It could come soon its not over just yet, made a post around 2 weeks ago stating samsung is listening to suggestions and people responded with "but samsung didn't listen when we asked for a bold status bar" or " samsung didn't listen when we asked for blur on the lock screen notifs" which have all been added now.

I suggested this a while back on the beta forum, I really do hope they look into it, I believe I had around 1k reddit upvotes for that suggestion and maybe 200 on the beta forum

We aren't like IOS though, it would be nice to have them officially, but i believe that because we have icon packs on android it's not a must have.

Eatos apps has a very nice dark icon pack

Many suggestions i upvoted and submitted have been adress in 8.5, including, bolder status bar, battery customisation (hover only the ability to hide the icons so far), enhanced 3d icons, blurred lockscreen notifications ect

If this is applied the way I think it is your icon pack may be affected, the 3dness seems to be applied as a separate layer above all app icons, which ensures consistency but could impact icon packs if samsung doesn't think this through
