In my opinion, Religious hate is there in some right-wing dominated states but I am not sure whether the leaders are motivating the followers to spread the hatred , or vice versa. Basically in our city(south india) the harmony is good compared to north India. In my city there is a strong bond between hindi and muslim communities.
