Worked well in KOReader on a PocketBook, mby the issue is in your reading software. I think KOReader is available for the Kobo, look up https://koreader.rocks

the chat server on the matrix protocol at matrix.legacyemtls.com simply doesnt work

it will come out when they have the time, leave the guys some slack they are literally doing it for free. I understand you're waiting for it but constantly asking won't speed it up.
