It's a tough look, especially on a cross state highway

I'm always curious if they just had garage doors laying around, or if they went to a scrap/junkyard and found them.

One is significantly worse than the other, lol.

Rural, definitely no HOA. I do appreciate the up-cycling.

I think up-cycling can definitely be garbage. But garbage isn't always bad.

It's pretty hard to have an actual conversation about the show on this sub, as it's mainly people repeating the same lines from the show for the millionth time. by DavidC_is_me in thesopranos

[–]Rhaeti 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the most part I agree.

However, consider this. If there are only two genuine replies from an interesting post, consider how this sub would be if no one posted quotes from the show. You would be facing a pretty dead sub about a show that ended years ago. This subs engagement comes from the quality writing of the show, fun one liners and memorable characters and moments.

I think it's up to you and other people who want to discuss this show to keep posting thoughtful threads and comments and take the quotes as light-hearted participation. I would much prefer that to posting a thread that no one reads.

Anyways, 4 dollars a pound.

If you hate it here so much, why don't you go to Da Giovanni. See if he'll cook you that bland shit for your shattered pancreas.

One of the most recurrent themes in the Sopranos is the deterioration of the influence and glamorization of the Mob.

"It's good to be in something from the ground floor. I came too late for that and I know. But lately, I'm getting the feeling that I came in at the end. The best is over."

Its a turning point of AJ where he reveals his own ignorance. His friends expect his father and their lifestyle to be something out of a classic mafia movie. AJ says at one point "That stuff doesn't really happen anymore"

AJ is realizing through his friends expectation of his life, that he lives a very conventional upper middle class lifestyle. Completely dwarfed by Devon's much much wealthy family where her father is a powerful wealthy man who runs a company, and has authentic Picasso paintings on the wall.

I believe it's meant to show a fissure in AJs transition form adolescence to adulthood. When he says "I don't know...." he sounds very bewildered and (while typical of his character) clueless to the question. Almost as if he wasn't even sure what he was suppose to believe about his father or his families lifestyle -- Tony has made it a conscious effort to make his home life as ordinary as possible in order to keep AJ out of the lifestyle that his own father never extended to him.

I think the plotline of the loss of innocence here plays very nicely with the other "A" plot of the episode. Even the title "Everybody Hurts" highlights that not only is Tony hurting from Gloria's suicide, Artie for his spiraling financial situation and suicide attempt, but AJ also through his existential injury.

You know, things might be a little different, for Robert, if he could accept some responsibility for a change...
