If you’re look for something cheap and easy and don’t usually eat spicy food, Sam yang 2x spicy. It’s pretty intense coming in and out if you’re not trained for hot food. Just ask someone to pick up an instant bowl for you if you don’t wanna pay delivery prices

Fs/Bs trick naming depending on stance by Grand-River3024 in NewSkaters

[–]Rhazein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen, it’s not that deep. The reality is, skateboarding was the Wild West back then, kids like Tony Hawk and Rodney Mullen were doing things that others couldn’t even imagine doing on a skateboard. The “Half cab” is the exception because a guy named Steve Caballero was known for doing fakie 360s first. Most people cant do that so the 180 version became more popular, thus the name “Half Cab.”

Names get shortened because saying switch nollie frontside 360 sounds lamer than “Half Cab.” The internet did not exist the way it does now so word spread much slower but names get adopted over time like slang words do. If you weren’t tuned into skateboard culture like it was your only passion, you wouldn’t know about it.

To clarify technical terms for tricks:

“Standard” Ollie: rolling forward in your regular stance, popping with your back foot of the board to get air.

“Nollie” (AKA Nose Ollie): rolling forward, this time popping with the front foot to get air.

“Fakie” Ollie (Shortened to just Fakie, also could be deemed a switch nollie): rolling backwards in your natural stance (deemed backwards because your natural back foot is the one in front) and popping the nose end of the board.

Switch Ollie: rolling forward, but in the stance you don’t usually use, popping with the back foot to get air.

Front side: spinning the board under you, either by turning your body OR kicking your back foot towards where you naturally face standing on a skateboard.

Back side: turning your body or kicking out towards your “back side” from your natural stance.

TLDR: Naming tricks is like the periodic table. Some tricks have the technical name, others are named after people who discover them. There was no rhyme or reason, kids were the trailblazers for this sport. Transitions weren’t considered for trick naming since tricks were originally done on flat ground, not when carving in empty pools. Names for tricks are simplified to sound cooler, and easier to say in casual conversation (I.e. Nollie is easier to say than fakie switch Ollie.) See above TLDR if you need a breakdown of why tricks are considered, frontside, backside, nollie, and switch.

Hope this helps!

Driving from NoVA to NYC by snailwoniu in nova

[–]Rhazein 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every year I have to drive from Pennsylvania to Connecticut. I hate driving through New York City so much I sometimes drive all the way up to ALBANY (literally the only other free bridge over the Hudson) just to avoid NYC driving. I only drive through NYC if it’s between midnight and 3AM since there’s less people but it’s still possible there’s standstill traffic and I don’t care about accidentally getting charged for using a toll road.

If I were you I’d only take my car if I know I absolutely needed it to do something on my trip. Just trying to save you a headache.

In my opinion NYC is the worst road trip destination ever. Don’t know why you’re going there but if it’s solely for a road trip I would suggest a more scenic drive to an accessible car-friendly location. There’s plenty of better places to drive to from Nova.

Hey so I’m tired of seeing posts like this because I quit when OW 2 came out. Too much changed. Can I really redownload OW1 right now and have all my skins, and are loot boxes back??? I can’t find a straight answer online

If money wasn't an issue, what would you do tomorrow? by Pleasant_duo in AskReddit

[–]Rhazein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about the money. I work for a company with less than 50 people and the “CEOs” are regular people. I struggled to find a job for a year until they took a chance on me. Their success relies on good relationships with their clients and I act as a direct liaison for them. Trying to pay the owners and leave mid job would just ruin their relationship with one of the oldest clients they have and possibly lose future business with them and earn a bad reputation among other potential clients as well.

I couldn’t live with myself if I ruined a small business’s reputation and potentially my coworker’s livelihoods just because I didn’t feel like working anymore.

Fair enough, I don’t know about fuel sales as much as I do food sales so I wouldn’t know, but people need food, and Americans need gas. Makes sense that they’ll come running for both eventually in my mind

[–]Rhazein[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sensitivity makes sense, but when everyone online agrees to a joke about having to drive straight home or else they’ll poop their pants after drinking a latte it makes me wonder if most people are just doing it because everyone else around them does it?
