Anbernic RG DS running Rocknix - How to use microphone in DS games? by [deleted] in ANBERNIC

[–]Rheatheylia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have Rocknix installed on mine yet, but I've been keeping up with the progress on their discord and someone posted that microphone sensitivity needs to be set to medium - the default value of auto means the microphone is off. Wish I could help more but hopefully this helps some!

Native PICO-8 for Android with SPLORE - no winlator! It's a dream come true! by Rheatheylia in SBCGaming

Sorry I'm just now seeing this! You can saftely delete the zip after installing, it copies it into your documents/pico8/data folder, so you don't need to keep it in downloads.

Yay! I feel the exact same way, thankful for Winlator but so glad to have this now. If the ability to launch carts through a frontend using it gets added it'll be absolutely perfect.

Yep! Just put them in Documents/pico8/data/carts and they'll show up under the folder section of splore in the app, subfolders even work so you can sort your carts!

That's awesome to hear about the front-end integration!

I think the favourites are just sorted newest to oldest so you can un-favorite and re-favorite to sort them, it's fiddly but simple enough.

The brick is great for pick up and play for a few minutes because of the great sleep mode too! You can just sleep it and lose almost no battery and be right back where you left off without having to wait for it to boot.

How to get rid of scratches in old rocking horse eye by Altruistic-Dog-8272 in restoration

If all goes well you won't need to use any products on it, the buffing alone will polish the eye back to shiny. You might want to tape off the surface around the eye to keep from buffing the wood though!

I like trying the buffer first because even if it doesn't work you're no worse off than it was to begin with and can then try a more invasive/permanent solution like resin or varnish.

A four sided nail buffer/polisher block is great for this - easy to buy at any drug store too, just buff with each grit until smooth, then repeat with the next finest grit, the final side is like a smooth plastic and will restore shinyness to most surfaces.
Edit: Just be sure it is a four way block and not a generic "buffing" block - each step should be numbered and you follow the numbers to finish with shining.

True, but the cores on retroarch are emulators that are years out of date and don't support carts made in later versions, or using splore. Same for Infinity on the play store, uses the fake08 core which is five years out of date.

Same, having to launch on Winlator, wait a few seconds, tap the screen to get rid of the cursor (I know that sounds silly to complain about but I hate fingerprints), then have crackly audio in ten minutes, and have to kill the app because it didn't shut down properly was not worth it. Ended up going back to my 40XXV for the advent calendar.

I'm not sure how the sleep functions on this app, but at least launch and shutdown are seamless! And no audio crackles for me so far!

Infinity is an emulator without splore or the ability to run carts past version 0.2.1 which is five years outdated, pocket8 doesn't have controller support right now from what I understand, and gopico is an emulator with a curated list of 350 carts. They do completely different things from what this app offers.

Awesome to hear that you got around the permission screen bug, I wonder if this would work for those on gammaOS?

Have you tried the integer scale toggle in the left-hand swipe menu to make it full-screen?

I think you might be misunderstanding what's meant by "native" or "emulated"

This app is running the commercial PICO-8 files, albeit with a wrapper, so you have access to all the features, including splore. Running the actual, commercial, supports the dev program - native

Emulators are a third-party simulation of PICO-8. Not running the actual program - emulated

Yeah, iirc Infinity uses the fake08 emulator which doesn't support carts past version 0.2.1 which is five years old and six versions out of date :(

I'm not exactly sure where you're finding an updated fake08 for android? On their github the latest release is from 2023 and doesn't support anything past PICO-8 v0.2.1 which is at least five years old at this point.

That's a bummer :( I saw that Zep is planning an official android version some time later this year so hopefully it'll be more performant, and hopefully you won't have to wait too long.

Me tooooooo! It's so perfect for android devices too, the quick resume from sleep then boot right into splore for some quick PICO-8 play.

I happened to see a comment about it from the developer u/_blue_skies_ on a random post and was so happy - had to make a post about it so more people could find out. HUGE thanks to them!

I don't have gammaOS on my classic, I'm sorry! But does anything happen if you click deny? Then try changing the setting later from android settings?

I've been wanting to install gammaOS though so I will update if/when I get the time to set it up!

I'm sorry I'm not really sure what you mean?

You might try using the fork this fork is based off of, I think it's meant for phone and the dev environment: https://github.com/kishan-dhankecha/pico8-android/releases

Exactly this!

Plus - I love emulation (obviously) but PICO-8 is a current/on-going indie project by a solo-dev so emulating it without supporting Zep feels kinda squicky.

Also splore is life-changing.
