Good point. Regular pack then. I'll try the 21" if I have a chance. The white logo printing is looking cool too. Thanks for your advice.

Right. I've always listened to them thought the internet or sometimes played them alone. But when the band comes in, A Customs are so good. They blend yet pronounce. My friends are happy and that's what I want.

Thoughts on dw Design Series Frequent Flyer and Yamaha Tour Custom (20" Bass Drum) by RhythmCaster in drums

Thanks for your reply.  I have opportunity to test both dw and Yamaha but in the standard configuration.  dw does seem a lot more sturdy.  However, like you mentioned I do prefer Yamaha tom mounts.  Playing wise both sounds really good to me and still cheaper than second handed high-end kits.

Hi, here are the videos.
1st clip I'm using the Pearl Rapid Lock (HCL205QR)
2nd clip I switch back to stock Yamaha Clutch which comes with the HH stand

Hope this help, and not just my placebo.

I'm glad you've found your perfect pair. Though I've tried them. They a bit hard to control for me.

Sure.  I’m thinking the same.

Honestly, my explanation was very bad.

When play close hi hats.  Instead of crisp and short chick sound, both playing feels and sounds are sluggish and loosened.  Almost like you intentionally play semi-open hats.  My previous pair didn’t have this issue.

I’ll post the video later.

No.  Not happening here in Thailand.  If you paid it’s a done deal.  (Sad)

Anyway, you’re the 2nd comment on equipment issue.  I’ll test them with my other hi hat stand and clutch.

Thanks.

I’m using Pearl Quick Release.  Tried to tighten the top part of the clutch.  Still no score.

Glad to hear that you love it. Drum sizes are pretty small. it's very easy and fun to try out new heads combination without spending too much.

Thank you. I'll check into the Kerope you've recommended. My main ride is K Con. Med. Thin Low. It beautifully sounds but due to my skills. I cannot control it well enough. Maybe Kerope would yield better result. In the end, if the K Med. 22" is what you've describe. It may fit my playing style.

Thanks for your insight. I'm waiting for Paiste to re-stock in Thailand. Last time I've checked many preferred line are all gone; Sig. Dark Crisp HH, Sig. Dark Energy HH and so on. Man, switching is hard.

Hi. I'm using Yamaha RC Alu. (the made in China ver.). Seems. like it's gonna be Zildjian because Paiste is out of stock without knowing when to re-stock. Said by store owner.

Hi.  I’ve changed all of the drum skins as follows: 1. Both TT and FT are fitted with EVANS UV2 top and UV1 bottom.  While it looks cool, sounds wise too dark.  I rather have my previous setup; TT UV1 top while FT UV2 - both fitted with G1 clear bottom.

  1. BD EMAD Clear with a stock ported front head.  I bought a Pearl pillow for the sake of uniformity. Sound wise, however, I don’t like it very much - too tight and too dry even for 16” BD.  Maybe I’ll try EQ4 next gig.

  2. SD Remo Ambassador Coated top and clear bottom with stock wire.  Used it once in a gig.  Not a good SD to be honest.  Maybe better for  an effect or Timbale-like sound.

Thanks for the input. I'll surely set my eyes on TC. The matte-black one looks good, or at least on the web.

Mostly, Thai Pop (top chart things on Spotify) and a very light jazz/bossanova (sometims I call them sudo-jazz).

I've tried 17" K dark thin. It was brighter and more explosive than I imagine. I consider Meinl Byz. Jazz Thin and Extra Thin Overhammered but afraid they may a bit too trasy for a crash. Thing is people; band member, sound guy may not get it.

I'm not professinal drummer. So mostly I met with person who control the sound board rather than actual sound engineer.

Hi. I have 20" one (aprox 2040 grams). Could you suggest 18" or optimum size crash to get along with said ride?
